github Firnschnee/FoxOne 3.4

latest releases: 3.6, 3.5.3, 3.5.2...
one month ago

The Library ("Bibliothek") window was the last major surface still wearing stock Firefox: cyan Windows-accent selection, two-tone grey backgrounds, violet separator lines. 3.4 brings it into the theme - and while we were near the title bar, the window controls too.

Added

  • Library window theming. Selection follows the FoxOne model: amber text instead of a highlight block, hover gets a 1px accent frame, and the dashed keyboard-cursor ring is retired. Both panes are XUL trees, styleable only through ::-moz-tree-* pseudo-elements - those cannot read CSS variables, so this is the one block where the palette values are hardcoded (documented in place).
  • One tone for the whole Library: toolbar, both panes, details pane and column headers all sit on --uc-color-base, with surface hairlines as the only separators. Nova's violet-tinted border token painted the column and pane separators from several elements at once; every paint channel (border, background-image, box-shadow, outline) is now closed.
  • Toolbar buttons (Manage / Views / Import and Backup) get the accent-text hover instead of a background block. They are <menu> elements dressed as buttons, which is why they resisted the first attempt.
  • Search box and details-pane fields follow the urlbar model: base at rest, surface with an accent border on focus. The native focus ring - drawn straight in the Windows accent colour, past every Firefox token - is replaced with amber. The search input itself sits behind a shadow boundary; user sheets apply inside chrome shadow trees, so a bare element selector reaches what the id selector could not.
  • Tag selector (the checkbox list behind the tags expander): checkboxes redrawn flat, amber fill with a dark check when set; selection is amber text, no block.
  • Window controls, FoxOne-ified. Firefox paints min/max/close itself since the native titlebar is hidden, so they never quite matched the DWM-drawn buttons of every other window. Now they follow the theme instead: no hover block, the glyph takes the colour - amber for minimize and maximize, close keeps the Windows red. Convention beats theme exactly once.
  • In-content: every about: page now runs on the FoxOne accent. The Nova violet purge from 3.3.9 continues into userContent.css through one central token block; user sheets pierce shadow DOM, so the settings widgets are covered too.

Changed

  • Bookmarks-bar chevron: dimmed amber at rest, full accent on hover, no chip background.

Notes

  • userContent.css must be a real copy in the profile's chrome/ folder, not a symlink to an external location - the content-process sandbox blocks the symlink target and the sheet silently fails on websites while still working on about: pages.
  • The Downloads category inside the Library is a richlistbox, not a tree, and keeps its native selection colours for now.
