Summary
This release adds accounts and transfers, debt payoff planning, and exclusion filters. Most of this came from feature requests, so thanks to everyone who has been sending those in.
The biggest change is accounts. You can now track bank accounts, credit cards, and investments together, and use transfers to move money between them without it counting as income or spending. A card purchase counts when you make it, and paying the card later won't count it twice. Accounts live under Settings > Accounts, with Shift+A to view one at a time. Starting balances and statement dates let you line things up with your bank.
Transfers also show up as investment contributions or withdrawals automatically, including recurring ones. No more entering the same contribution in two places. Thanks TNhelly for the request. If you've been recording savings or card payments as expenses, t in the category catalog converts them to transfers and removes matching manual investment entries to avoid counting them twice.
The new Debts view is on Shift+D. Add your interest rates and monthly payments, then compare Avalanche, Snowball, or minimum payments and see how paying extra changes the estimated payoff date and interest. You can record payments, match statement balances, and open each debt for its history and payoff schedule. Anything you just want to track can stay out of the plan. Thanks Albert for the detailed request.
Note, the debts feature is still pretty heavily WIP. There may be way more changes to how it works and everything so that it can improve and become useful. I just wanted to start collecting feedback already to get an idea of what it can really help with.
Filters can exclude things now too. Use !amazon in the quick filter to hide matches, or Ctrl+N on an advanced filter field to flip it to exclude. The category summary also opens on the current month when available and supports sorting by any column. Thanks sobjey9 for that request.
Existing databases upgrade automatically, with your current transactions placed in Main Account within each ledger. Existing investments are kept too, so there's no need to start over.
I was a bit slow with this release due to it being very complex and requiring a lot of planning ahead of time, but also just being sick and busy. Appreciate everyones support and feedback always!
