Test build, not a release. Built from branch worktree-simple-bug-fixes (PR #84, commit 252a279) on top of 2.1.6. Three small fixes; everything else is 2.1.6, including the patch support (the 2.1.7-test1 signature patches are not in this build). The launcher still shows v2.1.6 and will not offer this build as an update.
What it changes
- Game clock (#42):
sceKernelReadTscreturned the raw per-core TSC. On hosts whose cores disagree (3.9 s apart on a Xeon E5-2680 v4) the game jumped in time and ran fast whenever a thread moved to another core. The game's clock is now the process clock (QPC), the same on every core. - CPU check (#33, #66): the game's own code needs the PS4's instruction sets (MOVBE, F16C, BMI1, LZCNT among them). On a CPU without them (Sandy Bridge, Ivy Bridge and older) the port used to close with an illegal instruction inside
libc.prx; it now stops at start with a clear line in the log:STOP: this CPU lacks instruction sets the game's code uses: .... It does not make the game run on those CPUs. - Mouse cursor (#71): the Windows cursor is hidden while it is over the game window, in windowed, borderless and fullscreen modes. The in-game menu (Insert, or R3 + L2) still shows its own cursor.
How to test
- Extract the zip into a new folder, keep your current folder. Choose the game folder again in the launcher (or copy your
userfolder over for saves and settings). - Start the game as usual and report in the issue for your case:
- #42 (game runs fast, Xeon or other multi-socket/old-TSC CPU): without the
gow3-fixpatch applied, 60 FPS, play a few minutes: the speed must be normal. If it still runs fast, attachuser\last_run.log. - #33 / #66 (closes at start on an old Xeon): open the Log page in the launcher: it must now show the
STOP: this CPU lacks ...line naming the missing instruction sets. Paste that line. - #71 (cursor visible): the cursor must disappear over the game in all three display modes and come back when the menu opens.
- #42 (game runs fast, Xeon or other multi-socket/old-TSC CPU): without the
You still need your own God of War III Remastered game files. No game files are included.
