This release adds voice dictation, a Simplified Chinese translation, a chat width setting, and TypeSafe Jev setup. It also fixes three reported issues.
New
- Voice dictation (97d7fcb, 16f6300, 0062968, 419dbf3). The composer has a microphone button. Speech is transcribed on your machine and the text goes into the prompt box, which is never sent for you. You pick and download a model in Settings (Moonshine, Whisper, or Parakeet V2/V3); nothing downloads until you do. A "Run on" setting chooses Auto, CPU, or GPU. Text appears after each pause, and recording stops after 8 seconds of silence. On Linux, GPU mode starts the app with WebGPU and Vulkan enabled, and Settings tells you when a restart is needed.
- Simplified Chinese (dfa098c). Pick 简体中文 in Settings > Language. The Language picker also shows each language's name in the current interface language, for example "简体中文 (Simplified Chinese)" (aa1bf1c).
- Chat width (#73, 9d92c2c). Settings > Appearance has a Chat Width choice. Normal keeps the readable middle column. Full width lets messages and the composer fill the chat area, which helps on large monitors.
- TypeSafe Jev setup (d1583be). A new Settings section saves your TypeSafe API key in an owner-only file and passes it to Pi and OMP as
TYPESAFE_API_KEY. The key is not written to settings.json. The section can also install the official typesafe-ai agent skill; its files come from a pinned release and are checked against pinned SHA-256 digests. Pi Desktop does not call TypeSafe itself.
Fixes
- Enter, Escape, and the arrow keys no longer act while an input method (IME) is composing. Before, the Enter that confirmed a conversion sent the message (#71, a2e4829).
- The Diff Viewer works on worktrees with a lot of changes. It used to fail with "stdout maxBuffer length exceeded" (#70, 12d513f).
- The app watches the disk for file changes only while the files panel is on screen (55ad3fa).
install.shdownloads the AppImage to a temporary file and then moves it into place, so a failed download leaves the old install working. It shows a progress bar and warns whenpiis not on your PATH (8a50407).
Notes
This is alpha software. On-disk formats and behavior can change between releases. The macOS and Windows builds are unsigned.
