0.5.0 — 16 September 2026
Makes RomM save sync actually work. In 0.4.5 it could not upload anything at all, and this release
is mostly about that and what had to be built around it.
Save sync now works — it did not in 0.4.5
- Every save upload failed in 0.4.5. RomM rejects a save whose device it has never been told
about, and the launcher was sending an id it had generated itself. It now registers with the
server before the first upload, so saves actually arrive. If you tried save sync in 0.4.5 and it
said "couldn't sync", this is why. - Saves were compared with the wrong hash — SHA-256 against RomM's MD5, which can never match,
so "already in sync" never fired and a save would have been re-uploaded on every run.
Save sync, per game instead of per emulator
- The screen used to list emulators and ask which system to sync. It now scans on open and shows
the games on this device that have saves — which app happens to own a file is a detail, and a
list of emulators says nothing about whether your Symphony of the Night is backed up. - Detection runs the other way round: instead of walking save folders and guessing what each file
is, it takes the games in your library and asks each one whether a save exists. Three passes —
exact name, case-insensitive, then normalised — with the whole library resolved at each stage, so
a loose match can never claim a file that belongs to another game. - Each game shows its cart or disc scan and when it was last saved ("Saved 2 hours ago"),
newest first, ten at a time. - Covers 34 standalone emulators plus RetroArch, including its per-core save folders, read from
your ownretroarch.cfg.
Syncing without being asked
- A save syncs by itself when you put the game down, with a notice in the corner saying what
happened. - Saves made while you were offline go up as soon as you are back. There is no pending-uploads
list to get out of step — anything written since the last successful sync still has to go, which
also catches saves from sessions played outside KONSORU entirely.
Play state
- Games launched from KONSORU now report to RomM, so
last playedandnow playingfill in the
same as they would from any other client. Reported from one place, so the DS and 3DS grids on the
lower screen are covered too.
