CE with Emulationstation test release for S905 and S912

latest releases: v4.7, v4.6, v4.5...
pre-release5 years ago

This is just a test release! THIS IS NOT INTENDED AS AN UPDATE TO COREELEC NOR SX05RE!

Use an SD card with etcher to test this. And remember to copy your DTB.
ROMS go in /storage/roms/[system] (e.g. /storage/roms/nes)

First time you launch it will take a few seconds to set everything up so be patient.

There are still a few known issues:

  • You will have to use a supported controller (like an Xbox 360 gamepad)
  • Sometimes you will need a keyboard to exit an emulator (like advmame)
  • A lot of cleanup still needs to be done, so the screen might flicker or look weird for a second or two.
  • The PSP emulator does not work on the S912, it will possibly never work.
  • I tried my best to make it work on all resolutions, but I have no ther TV than a 1080p, so I don't guarantee it will work on any other resolution.
  • Other weird problems might occur, please let me know if you find any.

if you want to use an external HDD or an USB stick for your roms, make a directory called "roms" in root, then inside make an empty file called sx05reroms, place your roms inside the corresponding folder (nes, snes, etc, etc. you can check the full folder names if you SSH to the device and run "ls /storage/roms" or on the samba share "Roms") then with the device plugged in restart the device. There is a known bug if you use this method a message might appear on screen at boot complaining that it couldn't create some tmp folders, this is harmless and it won't affect use.

I still need to set up the script to auto configure any gamepad to all the emulators on first boot, but I am not quite there yet. If you have any experience converting .sh script from bash to sh let me know :)
