1.0.5: EchoFG steadier and honest about its counter and delay, lighter upscaling of generated frames by default, less flicker in Neural Rendering, and a Super log for bug reports.
This release answers what the community reported: EchoFG flickered in grainy pictures and showed the wrong frame rate, the upscalers cost a lot with frame generation (most on a second card and on RTX 20/30), and Neural Rendering flickered on some textures. Everything here was measured on recordings; most of it has not yet been seen in many games, so please use the new Super log to report what you find.
Report a problem the easy way: Features tab, switch Super log on, play, press Ctrl+Shift+F12 when it happens, and send the zip from the reports folder beside Lossless Scaling. It holds the logs, your settings, your cards and drivers, what Lossless Scaling's window sent it, the last ten minutes of every number the addons publish and each addon's frame trace. Nothing is uploaded: you send the file.
- Lossless Scaling's own frame rate counter shows EchoFG's rate ("60 / 120"; it showed only the real rate). The manager hooks that counter only in the Lossless Scaling build it knows byte for byte; elsewhere EchoFG draws a small counter of its own. EchoFG warns when Lossless Scaling's own frame generation is on too.
- EchoFG: Match the game's grain (on by default) against flicker in grainy pictures (film grain, snow, rain, a neural pass's noise); a menu or text change shows as one real frame or the other, not a mix; vectors of a fraction of a pixel are ignored (about +1 dB on quiet scenes); the panel shows the delay it adds to each real frame; no longer called a prototype (it is still off until you switch it on).
- The upscalers (DLSS, FSR, XeSS): the lighter upscaling of generated frames is on by default (it was an off-by-default test), and also starts when the upscaler alone takes over half of the card; a Preset (Quality, Balanced, Performance); the DLSS Auto model is the light one (K) on RTX 20/30 cards, where DLSS 4.5's models cost several times more; the status line shows the video memory taken.
- DLSS 5 Neural Rendering flickers less where the picture is still (the model's change from frame to frame on still textures falls 20 to 30 %); the Model passes tooltip says what extra passes cost in flicker.
- New features (Features tab): Super log (above), and Lossless Scaling's hidden settings (the size, colour, font and place of its frame rate counter and a few expert values, in its own
config.ini; only the lines you change are touched). - For addon authors (API 1.4, only added to):
SetFpsCounterMultiplier,LosslessFrameGenType,LosslessDrawsFps, and the eventsEAM_EVENT_SCALING_STATUSandEAM_EVENT_REPORT. - Docs: a FAQ section with the questions people ask (anti-cheat and hooks, delay and Reflex, why the upscaler is costly with frame generation, RTX 20/30, two graphics cards, Linux).
If you have an earlier version, this replaces it. Download LSAddonManager-1.0.5-x64.zip, unzip, run LSAddonManagerSetup.exe. Your model file for Neural Rendering is still your own (not included). If a saved setting called "lighter upscaling of generated frames" was off in 1.0.4, it is on again (the setting has a new name; switch it off, or choose the Quality preset, if you want every frame upscaled in full).
