Addon Manager for Lossless Scaling 0.9.12

A third upscaler, Intel XeSS, and a release half the size.

  • The XeSS Upscaler. Intel XeSS Super Resolution in place of Lossless Scaling's NIS pass, beside the DLSS and FSR Upscalers (only one
of them runs at a time), off until switched on. It runs on any DirectX 12 card with Shader Model 6.4: Intel Arc (on its matrix units),
NVIDIA and AMD. Intel's runtime, libxess.dll 2.0.2 from the XeSS 3 SDK (signed by Intel; the same file OptiScaler ships), comes with
it, with Intel's licence. It uses the same motion measured from the frames, picks the XeSS quality setting that takes the game's size
by itself, runs HDR games in its HDR mode, and has the upscalers' sharpening, edge smoothing and picture controls. Tried in the test host
(upscaling, a sliding picture, HDR highlights, a 4:3 window); not yet in a game.
  • The release zip holds nothing twice. It carried every file loose and again inside LSAddonManagerSetup.exe; now only Setup, the
install note and the licences. With XeSS's 57 MB runtime included it is 111 MB (0.9.11 without it: 113 MB). To install by hand,
LSAddonManagerSetup.exe --extract files writes the files into a new folder and changes nothing else (INSTALL.txt and the README say how).
The manager's updater only ever used Setup from the zip, so updating works as before.
  • Tests: five XeSS scenarios. Told that nothing moves while the picture slides, XeSS drifts in average colour where DLSS and FSR do
not; with the measured motion it follows the picture as the others do.
