10.10.0 (2026-10-31)

Features

  • auto size images from the image's size with width or height 'auto' (#1409) (ccdf24e), closes #436 #1405

A side set to 'auto' follows the image's aspect ratio once it loads:

<FastImage source={{ uri }} style={{ width: '100%', height: 'auto' }} />

With both sides 'auto', the image is its own size, at most the space there is. A bundled image, or a source with a width and height, is sized from that size from the start, where it used to be 0 on a side the style left out:

<FastImage source={require('./icon.png')} />

Padding is no longer laid out (it never inset the image). On Android, an image in a view without a size (e.g. under display: 'none') is decoded no larger than its own size, instead of at the screen's size.
