Sideraven 1.2.0, based on Firefox for Android 159.0.
Sideraven 1.2 lets your tabs look after themselves: unused tabs go to sleep on their own, Spaces tidy up in one tap, and pinned tabs fold out of the way. It's also built on Firefox 159.
New features
- Auto-Sleep. Tabs you haven't used for 30 minutes go to sleep to free memory, and reload where you left them when you open them. Never touches the tab on screen, tabs playing sound or video, or private tabs. Choose 15 minutes to 6 hours, or Never: Tabs → Put unused tabs to sleep after.
- A clear sleeping look. Sleeping tabs, Essentials and pinned tabs are dimmed and their icons turn grey.
- Compact pinned tabs. Tap the line under a Space's pinned tabs to fold them away; the one you're on stays. Each Space remembers.
- A header for spaces. The Space's name sits above its pinned tabs in one row, instead of the row of icons: tap the name to fold, swipe sideways to change Space, tap the icon for every Space. The icon row is still there, one choice away: Settings → Sidebar → Spaces shown as.
- Close unpinned tabs. In a Space's menu (long-press its icon), close all its ordinary tabs at once, keeping pinned tabs and Essentials. Undo brings them back.
- No limit on pinned tabs. A Space can hold as many as you like.
- All Black theme. Firefox's black OLED theme is now offered in Customize, and the Sidebar follows it, keeping your Space colour as the accent. It replaces 1.1's Pure black switch, which only blackened the Sidebar; if you had it on, Darkest is turned on for you.
- Tab counter and New tab in the toolbar. With the Sidebar and toolbar layout, you can keep Firefox's tab counter and New tab button: Address bar → Tab counter and New tab in the toolbar.
- Ctrl+L opens the address editor. While the Sidebar shows, Ctrl+L edits the current tab's address in the Sidebar, like tapping the address bar. (Contributed by Csaba Huszár.)
- Send a tab to your desktop. Long-press a web tab in a shared Space and choose Send to desktop: a copy appears straight away at the top of On desktop with a spinner while it uploads, and Zen opens it in the same Space at its next sync. The tab stays open here, and an upload that fails stays queued and retries. Like seeing desktop tabs, it needs
zen.spaces-sync.normal-tabsturned on in Zen. (Contributed by Csaba Huszár.)
Changes
- Firefox 159, from Iceraven 2.52.0.
- The system bars match the frame. The status and navigation bars take the page frame's colours, including in Spaces, private browsing and Darkest, instead of seams of Fenix's own colours. The normal bar colours return when the Sidebar is hidden. (Contributed by Csaba Huszár.)
- Unload space (formerly Unload all) now puts every tab in the Space to sleep, not only its pinned tabs, and is offered for every Space.
- Essentials and pinned tabs remember their icon even when the site redirects (gmail.com to mail.google.com), so they keep it while asleep.
- The line under pinned tabs is easier to hit, and folded pinned tabs show a small stack mark next to their count. The line after Essentials now runs to the Sidebar's edges, while the fold line stays inset, so a folded Space no longer shows two identical lines.
- Dividers take the Space's colour. The lines between the Sidebar's sections use the Space's light or dark variant instead of the near-grey outline; Spaces on the default colour keep the plain line.
- Spaces show as the header by default. Anyone who never picked gets the Header; the icon row is one choice away and changes nothing else about Spaces.
- Each release now comes with a
SHA256SUMSfile to check your download against.
Fixes
- Fixed the keyboard switching from numbers to letters after each character while typing an address such as 192.168.1.1. The suggested completion now appears as real text after what you type, tinted in your selection colour: keep typing to replace it, Backspace clears just the suggestion, and Go opens the completed address.
- Selecting, copying and pasting in the address box works with a mouse again, as it does in any other text field.
