This is the first release candidate for firmware 3.6. All the important bugs we know about have been fixed and this firmware series is ready for wider testing.
Compared to RRF 3.5.4 this release includes 50 new and improved features including:
- Improve input shaping that works on moves of any length
- RS485/Modbus support (not available on Duet 2)
- Scanning Z probe support with touch mode
If you are currently running RRF 3.5.4 then see the full 3.6 change list at https://github.com/Duet3D/RepRapFirmware/wiki/Changelog-RRF-3.x-RC#reprapfirmware-360-rc1.
If you are already running RRF 3.6.0-beta.4, see the release notes at https://github.com/Duet3D/RepRapFirmware/wiki/Changelog-RRF-3.x-Beta#reprapfirmware-changes-from-360-beta4-to-360-rc1. In particular, if you are using the scanning Z probe in touch mode, you must recalibrate the touch threshold.
As usual, user running Duet with attached Single Board Computer should upgrade using the unstable feed from the package server, and user running in standalone mode should use the files here. Most standalone mode users should be able to upgrade simply by uploading file Duet2and3Firmware-3.6.0-rc.1.zip to the Duet via Duet Web Control.
