LocalRock v1.4.0

LocalRock v1.4.0 adds routines, room types, a Beta features page and a more flexible schedule time. It fixes Zone clean and Pin & Go, which sent map pixels instead of robot coordinates, and a long list of smaller problems reported since 1.3.0. Most of this release came from community pull requests, thank you.

Server requirement: routines need local_roborock_server v1.1.0 or newer, which keeps and runs the routines made in the Roborock app. Everything else talks to the robot directly over the existing connection, so any server that works with v1.3.0 works here.

Before you update (iOS): the app now sends your server's host name in the MQTT connection (SNI) and checks that the server's certificate matches it, as Android has done since 1.3.0. A server whose certificate does not match its host name connected before and will be refused now.

Routines

More > Routines lists the routines your server keeps for the robot and runs one with a tap (#27). Running the routine that is already going stops it. Creating and editing routines is not included.

Zone clean and Pin & Go

  • Zone clean sends the drawn rectangles in robot coordinates, in the shape the official app uses, and reports a refused start instead of showing success (#34). Contributed by @tslany (#44).
  • Pin & Go sends the target in robot coordinates (#34).
  • When a robot refuses a single suction, water or mop mode change, the app sends the whole mode at once instead (#34).

Room types

Pick a type such as Kitchen or Bedroom for a room, or give it a name of your own. Contributed by @virtitnerd (#42).

Beta features

On newer robots, Settings > Beta features has switches for options the robot advertises, such as FlexiArm side brush and mop, gap deep clean, dirty object detection and clean by floor type (#55). Only options your robot reports and answers are shown, and each change is read back from the robot. A collapsed list shows the other features the robot advertises that have no switch yet. Contributed by @jxt1009 (#56).

Schedules

  • The time can be set to any minute, and both the picker and the list follow your phone's 12 or 24-hour clock. Contributed by @virtitnerd (#38).
  • When the robot refuses a schedule, or turning one on, off or deleting it, the app shows the robot's error instead of failing silently (#28).

Dock

  • Empty through the dock for the robot's built-in water tank (#31). Contributed by @virtitnerd (#40).
  • Dock settings only offer what the dock supports, and the wash interval is sent in the robot's own units. Contributed by @tslany (#45).

Fixes

  • Map zoom (#57). A zoomed map reaches the edge of the screen in the main map, the map editor and the zone map, and keeps its zoom and position while the map refreshes during a clean. The live map part was contributed by @pponce (#61).
  • Switching floors (#54). Some robots take up to a minute to load another map and keep sending the old one until then. The app now asks again until the new map arrives, so the old floor no longer shows under the new floor's name.
  • Renaming rooms (#33). Rooms can be renamed on robots whose room table is empty, such as the S7 Max Ultra and Qrevo Edge, and a refused rename no longer leaves an unused room on the server.
  • Volume and child lock (#32) use the commands robots answer to, and show a refusal. Contributed by @virtitnerd (#39).
  • Carpet mode and status light show the robot's error when a change is refused (#35).
  • Floor type 2 shows as Carpet (#26).
  • iOS behind a reverse proxy (#29). The iOS MQTT connection now sends the server name (SNI).
  • Back button on a settings page returns to the settings list (#52).
  • Messages sit above the 3-button navigation bar (#51).

Other

  • The sign-in screen is available in German, the first step towards translating the app (#53). Contributed by @815rx1 (#58).
  • README updated for the current features.

Known limitations

  • Schedules still cannot be saved on robots that use the newer server timer, such as the Qrevo Curv 2 Flow (#28). The app now says so; support is in progress and needs a server update.
  • Carpet mode is still refused on the Saros 20 Neo (#35). The app now shows the refusal.
  • The floor switch fix (#54) was tested on an S8 Pro Ultra, not on the Saros 20 it was reported on. If you reported it, please say in the issue whether this release solves it.
  • Beta features: most switches were only read, not changed, on the robots tested (QX Revo Ultra 2 and S8 Pro Ultra). If one does not stick on your robot, please report it in #55.
  • Routines were tested with an empty list only. Please report in #27 if running one does not work.
  • Only the sign-in screen is translated so far.
