LocalRock v1.2.0 adds a map editor and full map management: draw restrictions and carpets, reshape rooms, and create, save, switch and delete maps, including multi-level homes.
Server requirement: none. Everything in this release talks to the robot directly over the existing connection, so any server that works with v1.1.0 works here.
Map editor
Open it with the pencil button on the map, or from More > Edit map.
- No-go zones, invisible walls, carpets and thresholds. Add a shape from the dock at the bottom, then drag it to move it, drag a corner to resize it, or use the knob to rotate it. Save writes everything in one go and then reads the map back to confirm the robot stored it.
- Round carpets. Carpets drawn as circles in the Roborock app now show as circles and keep their shape. They can be moved and deleted; resize them in the Roborock app for now.
- Rooms. Split a room with a divider line, merge two neighbouring rooms, rename rooms, and set the floor type (including wood grain direction).
- Saving is refused, with the reason shown, whenever it could delete something LocalRock cannot write back yet (for example no-mop zones).
Maps
The More > Maps sheet replaces Recover map.
- Rename and delete maps. Deleting asks for confirmation and lists what goes with the map.
- Map the home. Send the robot out to build a new map, then save it from the same sheet once the run is stopped. Useful after moving the dock.
- Multi-level homes. Turn multi-level maps on or off, choose automatic floor recognition or manual selection, and map another floor. Turning multi-level off asks which map to keep, since the robot deletes the others.
- Floor picker. When the robot holds more than one map, a dropdown on the map shows the loaded floor and switches between them. It follows the robot, so switches made elsewhere show up too.
Fixes
- Mapping runs now show as "Mapping". The app was reading the wrong state code, so a mapping run appeared as an unknown state.
- The loaded map is now read from the robot instead of assumed, so floor switching and edits target the right map.
- The cleaned-area readout no longer flickers to 0 m² during map operations. A status value that is not the cleaned area was being read as one.
- Switching floors uses the command format current firmware expects.
- The saved-map list now loads reliably when the robot screen opens, instead of only after opening the Maps sheet.
Other
- What's new in the app. After an update, a short summary of the release appears once over the device list, and Settings > About can show it again. It is built into the app, so nothing is downloaded to show it.
- The firmware update check is hidden in the robot's settings for now. The model and firmware version are still shown.
Known limitations
- Map edits can only be saved on a robot with a single saved map (map 0). Editing a second floor is not supported yet.
- Map names are limited to plain characters for now (no æ, ø, å or emoji).
- The online indicator in the device list still mirrors the server's home data and can disagree with the server's live connection (#6).
