RDRVR 0.8.8

Sound you can place, and a cleaner gun in your hand.

New, on by default

  • The game's sound is heard from your head (used in a Quest 3: "spatial audio is good"). The game placed every sound for the way John's body faced, so turning your head moved nothing and you could not tell where things came from. Now a voice comes to the front as you face it and moves to the other ear as you turn away.
  • Sounds behind you are no longer far away. On headphones and headsets (any stereo device) the game played what it pans behind you at about a third of its level. It now reaches your left and right ears nearly as loud as in front; the game's own slight quieting of sounds behind you is kept. A 5.1 or 7.1 device keeps the game's mix.
  • Both can be switched off in RDRVR.ini, [XR] AudioFollowsHead=0 and AudioRearFold=0 (as before).

Fixed (tried in the developer's simulator only, not yet in a headset)

  • The gun in your hand could smear or trail behind your hand, mostly in fights. With DLSS or the game's TAA, its motion vectors (what carries the image from frame to frame) followed the game's own movement of its gun, its aim and its recoil, not your hand's. They now come from where the gun was drawn the frame before. [Hands] GunMotionVectors=0 gives the old behaviour.

Also in this release (off by default; tried in the simulator only)

  • The belt in the Holsters tab: a gun belt made of the game's own props round John's hips, with its holster at the right hip, and optionally the knife, a satchel, the lasso's coil and an ammo pouch on it. Each piece has its own place, turn and size settings.

Install

Download RDRVR-0.8.8.zip, unzip it and run Install.cmd (RedHook must be installed first; see the README). Your settings are kept.
