The macOS Go .pkg fallback in install.sh works, and the download is checked before it is installed. When neither a release binary nor Homebrew was usable, the installer was meant to install Go from the official .pkg and build from source. It read the download URL from a url field that go.dev's release list does not have, so the URL was always empty and that path never ran. The URL is now built from the file name (https://go.dev/dl/<filename>), and the .pkg must match the SHA-256 that go.dev lists before sudo installer runs. A mismatch stops the install. The python3 and jq readers give the same result.
