1.6.4
- Settings: Playback is shorter. Artists, Artist Album Order, Year Order, Folder Root, Folder Skip and Folder Album Cover moved to Playback → Library & Folders, and ReplayGain moved next to Gain. Your settings are kept.
- Settings: System settings → Controls is new and holds the wheel and button settings: Wheel Sensitivity, Wheel QS, Hold Return and Single Press Scrub from Display, Key Tone, Click With Headphones and Buttons Lock from System settings, and Wake and Volume Guard from Power. Your settings are kept.
- Settings: In-Vehicle Mode and Boot to moved to System settings → Power, and Standby Limit moved next to Standby. In Display, Smart Awake moved next to Screen Off Time, and Shortcut moved to Appearance, next to Home. Your settings are kept.
- EQ: Playback → EQ → Advanced → EQ per Output lets each output keep its own EQ: the 3.5 mm jack, the 4.4 mm jack, USB, and each Bluetooth device. Set the EQ while listening on one, and it comes back whenever that output takes over. It's off by default.
- Rockbox: Wi-Fi turns off while Rockbox runs, and comes back when you return to Q2 Pod if it was on.
- Library: Recently Added goes by the date a song's file was created, which the card keeps and reading never changes. Before, on an exFAT card, a song's date was the last time its file was read; 1.6.1 kept dates across Update Local Music but couldn't bring back one already lost, so an album added the day of a 1.6.0 update stayed buried in the library (#188). The next Update Local Music dates every song afresh. Windows and Linux stamp a copied file with the time of the copy; a Mac keeps the file's own creation date.
- Wheel: the wheel and Centre no longer die on a list, with the selection bar gone, until a restart. The Q2 kept waiting for a finger it had seen touch the screen but never saw lift, so every tick and Centre press was dropped while Return and touch still worked. The most likely cause: after a QS Swipe, a thumb resting on the edge of the screen flooded the input queue with empty touch reports while the pull-down opened, pushing the lift out. Those reports are no longer queued. As a backstop, a touch the Q2 hasn't heard from in 5 seconds is lifted for it, without a click.
- Quick Settings: the wheel changes the brightness or volume only once the pull-down has opened and come to rest, not while it slides open or shut.
- Now Playing: with Wheel QS on, pressing Next and then Previous quickly is two skips, not a swipe across the wheel. Before, it could open Quick Settings, or leave it hidden with the screen frozen. (#189)
- Quick Settings: a quick swipe, or one made while a track is starting, now opens the pull-down. Before, it could stay hidden, with the page behind it frozen until you pressed a key or touched the screen. (#189)
- Library: with no card in, or an empty library, Albums, Artists, Composers and Genres say "No albums" (and so on) and stay on the Library list. Before, each opened an empty page, and the empty Albums page didn't answer Return, so only holding Return with Hold Return: Home got out of it.
- EQ: holding Playback in Quick Settings opens the EQ page directly.
- EQ: on Advanced, the response graph now scrolls with the list, so the rows have the whole page once you scroll past it, and comes back when you reach the top row. Before, it stayed on screen and left room for three rows.
- EQ: renaming a preset now opens its name with the keyboard up and the cursor at the end, so you can change a few letters or clear it and type a new one. The keyboard's OK or the Rename row confirms, and Return cancels. Before, the first key replaced the whole name, and a name of four letters or more was read as nothing typed, so the rename never happened.
