1.6.1
- Playback: a saved MQA: Off now stays in effect after restarting the Q2. Before, gaps between high-resolution tracks came back after every restart until MQA was toggled On and Off.
- Library: Recently Added keeps the day a song was added when you run Update Local Music. Shanling's firmware dates a song by the last time its file was read on exFAT cards, and a full update reads every file, so after one the whole library counted as added that day and albums added a few days earlier dropped off the list (#170). Songs added before this version keep the dates they have; a song shows its real date once it has been added by this version's update.
- Coverflow: preparing artwork on a big library with very large covers is much less likely to restart the Q2 (#169). Reading a 3000×3000 cover takes tens of MB, and when memory ran out the Q2 stopped its own interface instead of the cover reader; now it stops the cover reader. A cover whose reading was cut short is tried again the next time Coverflow opens, instead of staying blank until Refresh Coverflow. If it still restarts, the new q2-crash.log on the card says why.
- System: if the Q2 restarts on its own, what it was doing is saved, and after the restart it appears on the card as q2-crash.log, so a bug report can include it.
- USB DAC: on a DAC or USB-C headphone that plays everything at 48 kHz, such as the Sennheiser Momentum 4, gapless albums at 44.1 kHz play without a gap between songs. Shanling's firmware reopened the DAC at every song because the song's rate and the DAC's differed, which dropped the end of each song and, on headphones that stay silent until their stream has started, the start of the next. A song started from a stop, or after a seek, still starts the DAC afresh, so such headphones can still clip its first moment.
