What's new

Shelf Search
Search box inside the shelf (full row on the side blade, centered box on the top dock). Filters retained history as you type: 100 to 1000 items, default 250, adjustable in Settings. Typing does not move focus from the active app. Clicking a result pastes into it. Escape clears the query, closing the shelf resets search.

Elastic filter controls and Colors tab
Filter chips and the emoji category bar use a rubber-band track with momentum glide and settle animation. Draggable indicator, arrow-key navigation, reduced-motion support. New Colors tab collects copied color codes (#ff4757, rgb(...)) as swatch cards that can be dragged out or clicked to paste.

Three update modes
Settings, Updates: Automatic (check, download, one-click restart), Notify me (checks at launch, shows Download/Skip, never downloads unprompted), Off (no checks). Update status and progress appear at the top of Settings in both layouts. Skipped versions re-prompt on next launch. Manual checks work identically in all modes.

ClearType text and faster cold start
Text renders with native Windows ClearType instead of forced grayscale smoothing. Idle-time warmups remove the hitch on first shelf open and first emoji open after launch. Emoji categories load in batches, skip off-screen rows, and preload on hover.

Top-edge dock and Settings refresh
Shelf docks horizontally along the top of the screen (max 1080px wide) with its own trigger zone, preview flyout, and settings layout. Fixed a one-frame glitch on top-dock open. Settings footer uses one pill style (primary Ko-fi pill, secondary Store/GitHub pills, subdued Quit pill). Scroll fade masks removed from lists. Added swipe-to-confirm restart and wave-style sliders.

Performance

• No backdrop-filter blur: solid fills keep open and scroll at 60/120 fps.
• RAM ~130-160 MB: large texts spill to disk payload files, images stream as 240px thumbnails, V8 heap capped at 512 MB.
• Battery-aware cursor polling on laptops.

Reliability

• Multi-monitor engine with versioned display cache: chosen monitor persists across reboots and mixed-DPI setups.
• Fullscreen game detection (Direct3D) suppresses edge hover. Desktop and home screen unaffected.
• Launch-at-login self-heals quoted registry paths across updates.
• Sleep/wake guard pauses clipboard polling and re-seeds on unlock.
• Clipboard watcher honors password-manager and dictation privacy flags.

Compatibility

• Windows 10 / 11, all displays and scale factors.
• 31 languages, full key coverage, RTL mirroring for Arabic, Hebrew, and Persian.
• All file types at any size: files are referenced by path, never loaded into RAM.
• Store (MSIX) and GitHub (NSIS) builds from isolated pipelines. Store build contains no self-update code.

Verification

• 444/444 automated tests passing.
• Clean typecheck (one pre-existing unrelated file excluded).

Install and upgrade

GitHub (.exe): run Edge-Drop-Setup-0.3.2.exe. Preferences, pins, and history are preserved. The app launches minimized to the tray. Move the cursor to the screen edge (or press Alt+C) to open the shelf.

Microsoft Store: update arrives automatically via Store background updates.
