Added

  • The launcher plays Red, Blue and Yellow's own title screen behind the cartridge on the shelf, the way it already did for Gold, Silver and Crystal. The lettering is taken off so the launcher's own text stays readable, and the cartridge's title music plays under the interface.
  • A handheld with a second display, like the Ayn Thor, gets the lower screen on Red, Blue and Yellow too: the Pokedex, the party, the ITEM list, the TOWN MAP and the trainer info screen, with a tab for each.
  • The map is its own tab on those three, since Generation I has no Pokegear. It appears once the TOWN MAP is in your bag and sits where the Pokegear tab sits on Gold, Silver and Crystal.
  • Hard mode now changes what a Generation I trainer does. Every class scores its moves with all three of the game's own layers instead of the one or two its class carries, on top of the higher levels, perfect DVs and full stat experience it already brought.

Fixed

  • A Nuzlocke on Red, Blue or Yellow was counting one catch per map instead of one per area, so Mt. Moon gave you three encounters and Pokemon Tower five. A whole cave or tower is one area now, which is what the rule says: 36 encounters across the game rather than 57.
  • The party icon beside a Pokemon's name on the lower screen was drawn with half of it missing on Red, Blue and Yellow.

Which file

You have Download
Windows, any PC from the last 15 years pokerecomp-0.1.44-windows-x86_64.exe
Windows on a Snapdragon or Surface Pro X pokerecomp-0.1.44-windows-arm64.exe
A Mac pokerecomp-0.1.44-macos.zip
Linux on a desktop or laptop pokerecomp-0.1.44-linux-x86_64
Linux on a Raspberry Pi, an SBC or an arm64 handheld pokerecomp-0.1.44-linux-arm64
Android, including handhelds like the Ayn Thor pokerecomp-0.1.44-android.apk
iPhone or iPad pokerecomp-0.1.44-ios.ipa
A Nintendo Switch running homebrew pokerecomp-0.1.44-switch.zip

Every download is one file. sha256sums.txt covers all of them.

First launch

  • Windows may show a blue "Windows protected your PC" box, because the build is not signed by a paid certificate. Click More info, then Run anyway.
  • macOS: the app is ad-hoc signed and not notarized, so double-clicking it is refused. Right-click the app, choose Open, then Open again. Only the first launch needs this.
  • Linux: chmod +x pokerecomp-0.1.44-linux-x86_64 and run it.
  • Android: your phone will ask you to allow installing from this source.
  • iOS: the .ipa is deliberately unsigned. Install it with AltStore or SideStore, which sign it on your own machine with your own Apple ID. A free Apple ID works; apps signed that way need re-signing every 7 days. Add pokerecomp's source once, in Sources > +, and every later release shows up as an update: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Decryptu/pokerecomp/main/.github/altstore/source.json
  • Switch: extract the zip at the root of your microSD, so the file lands at switch/pokerecomp.nro, and launch pokerecomp from the homebrew menu. It needs a console that already runs homebrew; nothing here installs one.

Updating

The launcher's about page tells you when a newer release exists. It does not install it: download the new file and replace the old one. Your saves are kept separately and survive it, on every platform.
