Summary
- Manage backups and restores across multiple Docker hosts through agents, including backup groups, stacks, Docker labels, and destinations. Use hybrid mode to retain local execution or orchestrator mode without access to a local Docker daemon.
- Restore locally stored archives onto another host into a new volume, using an encrypted transfer through the orchestrator while preserving the original archive.
- Restore operations verify ownership of newly created target volumes before writing. Failed restore targets are retained for inspection and optional manual removal.
Upgrade Notes
- Database migrations run through the normal VolumeVault startup process. Preserve the existing storage volume and
APP_KEYwhen recreating the container. - Existing installations retain hybrid mode; agents are opt-in. Remote hosts use the separate
ghcr.io/darkdragon14/volumevault-agent:v2.0.0image and require enrollment and a reachable TLS endpoint. Agent updates are manual. - Cross-host restores target new volumes. Review failed restore targets before removing them manually.
