Drift v0.9.1

Drift 0.9.1 is a bug fix update for the interface, with updates to the 3D workspace as well.

  • 3D workspace: two live views side by side, After Effects-style coordinates and a reworked camera
  • Undo history is saved in the project file, with no 50-step limit, and projects save in the background
  • Shape crops: crop a clip to a circle, polygon, star or heart and pan and zoom the content inside it
  • The Crop window opens on the frame under the playhead and can rotate and flip
  • New Privacy Blur effect with blur, mosaic and solid bar modes, and a new Reverb audio effect
  • Remove silence and Sync by audio clip actions
  • Timeline: replace a clip's media with another library asset, a Move to track menu, remove all empty tracks, dissolve a composite clip back into its clips, and tabs to switch between composite sequences
  • Moving a linked video to another track takes its audio with it
  • A shared curve picker for animations, with custom curves
  • A miter limit for text and shape strokes
  • Choose where Drift keeps its cache
  • Text, shapes and Lottie clips render sharply at their on-screen size, including fractional text sizes
  • Relinking a missing file updates every clip that uses it and offers to relink files next to it
  • Timeline fixes: clips can be split and trimmed down to one frame, the playhead no longer steps backwards during playback, dropped transitions are added as chosen, fade handles drag again and follow in/out animations, clips shrink with zoom, and track and keyframe headers resize
  • Interface fixes: context menus stay on screen and scroll when tall, transform grips work outside the canvas, the scale link toggle works again, number fields no longer change on hover, empty panels and toasts draw inside their bounds, and the library tab rail can be resized
  • Render fixes: exports above the project size render at the output resolution, transition edges no longer show dark fringes, and star masks draw five points
  • Android: more reliable clip drag and trim handles on the timeline
  • Translations: Japanese, Portuguese (Portugal) and Vietnamese updated

Thanks to Idelson Queiroz Boone for undo history in the project, shape crops, privacy blur, reverb, remove silence and sync by audio; to @mightycrystal7, @CesarSullen and @Gamistano for reporting issues fixed here; to @Ricardo-Simoes for Portuguese (Portugal); to @coolvitto for Japanese; and to Nguyễn Lam for Vietnamese.

Installing

  • AppImage (Linux, any distro): chmod +x Drift-*-x86_64.AppImage && ./Drift-*-x86_64.AppImage
    (Drift-*-aarch64.AppImage on ARM64 machines)
  • Windows installer: run Drift-Setup-*-x64.exe (Drift-Setup-*-arm64.exe on Windows on ARM)
  • Windows portable: extract Drift-Portable-*-x64.zip (or -arm64.zip) anywhere and run drift.exe from
the Drift folder inside it. Nothing is installed, but settings and addons are still
    stored per-user under %APPDATA%\Drift.
  • macOS: open Drift-*-arm64.dmg (Apple Silicon) or Drift-*-x86_64.dmg (Intel) and drag Drift to Applications. The
app is signed ad-hoc rather than notarised, so the first launch needs right-click →
Open, or xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Drift.app.
  • Arch Linux: sudo pacman -U drift-*-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst (Arch Linux ARM: sudo pacman -U drift-*-aarch64.pkg.tar.zst)
  • Flatpak (x86_64 and aarch64 bundles): requires flatpak with the Flathub remote added (flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https://flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo), then flatpak install --user Drift-*-<arch>.flatpak
  • Android: install the APK for your ABI (arm64-v8a on virtually all phones; x86_64 for emulators). Sideload with adb install Drift-*-arm64-v8a.apk.

Fonts, stickers, speech models and GPU/CPU acceleration runtimes are not bundled — install
the ones you want from the Addon Manager in the app header.
