Drift v0.9.0

one hour ago

Drift 0.9 lets you shape the editor around the job: workspaces with your own layouts, themes, a colour grading workspace and a much better keyframe editor.

  • Workspaces: design your own layouts, open panels in extra windows and switch between preset views for editing, colour, keyframes, subtitles, masking and tracking, and Source Lab
  • Themes: dark and light plus the translucent Graphite and Frost themes, window backdrops, and importing your own themes
  • Colour grading: a Color workspace with a Color Grade effect, colour wheels, curves, hue curves and per-colour HSL, looks with .cube LUT import, and histogram, waveform and vectorscope readings
  • Keyframe editor: a Keyframes workspace with a property tree, lanes and a curve editor; multi-key selection, copy and paste, stretching and scaling keys; per-segment easing presets including elastic and bounce, saved easings and optional bezier handles
  • Source Lab replaces Cut / Trim: a frame-accurate source viewer with JKL and timecode entry, favourite and reject ranges, markers and scene splits, plus crop, speed, loudness, denoise, stabilize and upscale, with replace in bin, add as copy or export to a file
  • Masking and Tracking workspace: brush and polygon masks, point and planar tracking, AI object masks, Blur this area, per-frame brush fixes on AI cutouts and locking a tracked object to the screen
  • Subtitles workspace with a cue grid, lane, text and timing panels and VTT support
  • Quick Setup on first run: language, theme, interface size, essential addons and tips
  • Extras store and marketplace in their own windows, with an install queue, automatic dependencies and every download tracked in one place
  • Search everything with Ctrl+K, including panels, settings and controls
  • A redesigned settings dialog with search, a network proxy, an interface graphics API choice and import and export of preferences
  • Select several clips in the preview and transform them together, in 2D and 3D
  • Timeline: sub-clips from a source's in/out range, automatic crossfades on overlaps, trim to playhead buttons, auto-select under the playhead, alignment guides and waveforms scaled by clip volume
  • Inspector: drag numeric fields to scrub them, pick the scale origin from an anchor grid, and straighten crops
  • Effects: audio spectrum and waveform visualizers, text case and strikethrough, and miter, round and bevel stroke joins
  • AMD GPUs can run AI features through MIGraphX, and Drift offers another engine when the chosen one fails
  • Faster playback: background decoding pauses during playback, a 1/8 preview quality, and panels that load only when shown
  • New builds for Intel macOS, Windows on ARM and Linux on ARM
  • Android: a redesigned phone interface with a tabbed home and full-page tools, touch mask editing, and headphones used for playback
  • MCP: themes, crop and rotation, media bin folders, the marketplace, audio analysis and running several Drift instances at once
  • Fixes: changing a clip's speed keeps its source range, playback stays in sync after the audio device changes, large blurs stay smooth, edited media is kept on save, and Android imports files with unusual names
  • Translations: Chinese (Simplified) and Portuguese (Portugal) completed; Japanese, Polish, Russian, Spanish (Colombia), Tagalog and Vietnamese updated

Thanks to @jmn8718 for straightening crops, multiple instances, the MCP crop tools, faster playback and start screen access to settings; to @jgafarias for timeline alignment guides, separated embedded audio and export and preview fixes; to @thilakshan2003 for keeping the source range on speed changes; to @wklxd for Chinese (Simplified); to @Ricardo-Simoes for Portuguese (Portugal); to @coolvitto for Japanese; to Paweł Korobajło for Polish; to Nguyễn Lam for Vietnamese; to Dmitry for Russian; to Kamitazic for Spanish (Colombia); and to @TSFBCE24RhythmHeaveners for Tagalog.

Installing

  • AppImage (Linux, any distro): chmod +x Drift-*-x86_64.AppImage && ./Drift-*-x86_64.AppImage
    (Drift-*-aarch64.AppImage on ARM64 machines)
  • Windows installer: run Drift-Setup-*-x64.exe (Drift-Setup-*-arm64.exe on Windows on ARM)
  • Windows portable: extract Drift-Portable-*-x64.zip (or -arm64.zip) anywhere and run drift.exe from
the Drift folder inside it. Nothing is installed, but settings and addons are still
    stored per-user under %APPDATA%\Drift.
  • macOS: open Drift-*-arm64.dmg (Apple Silicon) or Drift-*-x86_64.dmg (Intel) and drag Drift to Applications. The
app is signed ad-hoc rather than notarised, so the first launch needs right-click →
Open, or xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Drift.app.
  • Arch Linux: sudo pacman -U drift-*-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst (Arch Linux ARM: sudo pacman -U drift-*-aarch64.pkg.tar.zst)
  • Flatpak (x86_64 and aarch64 bundles): requires flatpak with the Flathub remote added (flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https://flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo), then flatpak install --user Drift-*-<arch>.flatpak
  • Android: install the APK for your ABI (arm64-v8a on virtually all phones; x86_64 for emulators). Sideload with adb install Drift-*-arm64-v8a.apk.

Fonts, stickers, speech models and GPU/CPU acceleration runtimes are not bundled — install
the ones you want from the Addon Manager in the app header.
