A quick bug-fix release for AppImage users only. If you installed Drift from Flathub, the Arch package or the Windows installer, nothing changes for you and there is no need to update.
- Videos that the AppImage refused to open, or played as a black picture, now work. The AppImage was bundling a cut-down copy of FFmpeg that didn't have several codecs.
- The AppImage now runs natively on Wayland instead of falling back to XWayland. The Wayland platform plugin was missing from the bundle.
Installing
- AppImage (Linux, any distro):
chmod +x Drift-*.AppImage && ./Drift-*.AppImage - Windows installer: run
Drift-Setup-*.exe - macOS (Apple Silicon): open
Drift-*-arm64.dmgand drag Drift to Applications. This build is signed but not yet notarised, so the first launch needs right-click → Open (orxattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Drift.app). Intel Macs build from source. - Arch Linux:
sudo pacman -U drift-*.pkg.tar.zst - Flatpak: requires
flatpakwith the Flathub remote added (flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https://flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo), thenflatpak install --user Drift-*.flatpak
Fonts, stickers, speech models and GPU/CPU acceleration runtimes are not bundled — install
the ones you want from the Addon Manager in the app header.
