v0.12.0-rc1
The first release candidate with ePBS (Gloas) support. After the Gloas fork, beacon nodes ask builders for bids through three new builder API endpoints. This pre-release supports the three endpoints while maintaining backwards compatability with v0.11.0.
What's new
- Commit-Boost serves the new bid, builder preferences and signed block endpoints.
- Each bid or preferences request specifies one builder in its
auth_data, and Commit-Boost routes it to that builder. The beacon node verifies the bid itself, so Commit-Boost passes it on without redundant verification in the hotpath. - The signed block goes to every relay configured entry, and Commit-Boost answers
202once it has sent it.
- Commit-Boost works out each request's deadline from the beacon node's timing headers and holds back
proposer_deadline_buffer_msfor the trip back. - The default is 20 ms, which suits a beacon node on the same host. Raise it if the beacon node runs on another machine.
Builders outside your config (#506, #511)
- If a key's builder config names a builder with no relay entry, Commit-Boost sends the request to that builder directly. It refuses private and loopback addresses, follows no redirects and doesn't send your relay headers.
- To limit Commit-Boost to the builders in its config, set
dial_unconfigured_builders = falseunder[pbs].
ePBS bid streaming (#509)
- A relay entry with
get_header = "stream"also streams ePBS bids over a websocket, and Commit-Boost returns the latest bid when the stream ends or the deadline arrives. - If the stream can't connect and there's time left, it falls back to a normal HTTP request.
- Only turn this on for builders that serve the ePBS stream. A builder that doesn't will refuse each stream, and if the refusal comes too late there's no time left for the HTTP fallback, so that slot gets no bid from it.
Metrics
- ePBS requests show up under four new
endpointvalues:get_execution_payload_bid,get_execution_payload_bid_stream,submit_builder_preferencesandsubmit_signed_beacon_block. - Requests to builders outside your config are labelled
relay_id="dial". - The ePBS stream has its own
relay_epbs_stream_*series, so the PBSrelay_stream_*series keep their v0.11.0 meaning.
