Aether v1.9.0

Aether is a user-space proxy client. It tunnels traffic out of a filtered network and exposes a local SOCKS5 proxy on 127.0.0.1:1819. Point a browser, terminal, or system proxy at that address and your traffic leaves through the tunnel.

What's new in v1.9.0:

Fixes

  • MASQUE over HTTP/2 was slow. The flow-control window, the send path, the packet framing and the inner MTU are all fixed.
  • Every transport was capped by the netstack's TCP receive buffer. It is larger now, and AETHER_NETSTACK_TCP_RX and AETHER_NETSTACK_TCP_TX set it by hand.
  • --gool --wg-peer <ip:port> was documented but ignored. It works.

Features

  • WARP-in-WARP endpoints can be given by hand: --wiw-outer, --wiw-inner, --wiw-peers, --wiw-scan, and the matching AETHER_WIW_* variables. Give one hop and the scan finds the other. The port is required. Scanning stays the default.
  • aether help works alongside --help and -h, and covers every flag and every environment variable.
  • AETHER_MASQUE_MTU sets the inner MTU of the MASQUE tunnel.
  • The startup line and the HTTP/2 tunnel report the flow-control windows in use.

Changes

  • smoltcp 0.14. The crate now needs Rust 1.91.

Every archive ships with a matching .sha256 file, and SHA256SUMS.txt lists them all.

See README.md and the Docs directory for install steps, transport selection, obfuscation profiles, and the full environment-variable reference.
