Bubble Card 3
v3.4.2
Hi everyone!
First, if you missed the v3.4.0 announcement, make sure to check it out before updating!
This release comes with a lot of fixes (again), but also with something new, a dropdown can now arm and disarm your alarm, with a keypad that shows up right in the menu when a code is needed!
I didn't personally have an alarm at home, so I built one with a template entity that combines my cameras (through Frigate), my motion sensors and my presence sensors, to be able to arm all of this as simply and as cleanly as possible. If you haven't created your own custom alarm system yet, now is the time!
Pick a mode, type your code, and you're done!
Dropdowns also learned a few more menus (the fan speed of your vacuum, the activities of your remote and the direction of your fan), calendar events now open the Home Assistant event dialog with their description, and pop-ups using the "Home Assistant" style now keep the same height as the more info dialog on mobile, instead of changing size with their content.
As always, thank you all for your support and your reports! 🍻
And now, here is everything that has been added and fixed in this release:
💡 New features and enhancements
-
Alarm modes in dropdowns, with a keypad:
A select card or a dropdown sub-button can now list the modes of an alarm control panel (Home, Away, Night...). When a mode needs a code, a keypad appears right in the menu to type it. Select "Modes" in "Select menu (from attributes)", or setselect_attributetoalarm_modesin YAML. -
More dropdown menus:
Dropdowns can now list the fan speeds of a vacuum (fan_speed_list), the activities of a remote (activity_list) and the direction of a fan (direction). #2644 -
"Home Assistant" pop-up style, same height as the more info dialog:
On mobile, a pop-up using this style now keeps the full height of the more info dialog, whatever it contains. If you prefer a pop-up that fits its content, "Pop-up mode" is now available with this style, just select "Adaptive dialog". -
Calendar event details:
Tapping an event of the calendar card now opens the Home Assistant event dialog, with its description and its location. This is the new default, and you can still change it in "Tap action on event". -
The "Vibrate" option is now respected:
Cards no longer vibrate when "Vibrate" is turned off in your Home Assistant profile, in the companion app as well. #2643 #712 -
Legacy pop-ups in a grid card can now be migrated:
The migration is now offered for legacy pop-ups placed in a grid card, and a migrated pop-up keeps the visibility conditions and the position of the card it replaces. -
Smoother swipe to close:
A pop-up released in the middle of a swipe now keeps going at the speed of your finger.
✔️ Bug fixes and improvements
-
Fixed the page using more and more memory over time:
Cards with a slider sub-button kept the whole dashboard in memory each time Home Assistant reconnected, so the page got slower the longer it stayed open, mostly on phones and wall tablets. -
Fixed pop-ups not centered after the sidebar changes:
Pop-ups, footers and horizontal buttons stacks stayed off-center once the Home Assistant sidebar was expanded, collapsed or hidden after the dashboard loaded. #2641 -
Fixed the dashboard moving when a more info dialog opens over a pop-up:
Opening a more info dialog from a pop-up shifted the whole dashboard sideways, and back when closing it. It only showed with classic scrollbars, like on Windows. -
Fixed taps ignored on cards with bottom sub-buttons:
A tap on the empty part of a bottom sub-button row did not reach the card. #2243 -
Fixed the Sub Button Wheel module opener:
With this community module on bottom sub-buttons, the button opening the wheel could no longer be clicked. #2631 -
Fixed a slider fill staying visible after a light group turns off:
The card showed "Off" but its slider stayed filled until the page was refreshed. #2647 -
Fixed the close button of a sub-slider changing the main slider:
PR #2645 by @SeoFood, thank you so much! 🍻 #2498 -
Fixed a sub-slider hard to see over a slider of the same color:
The fill of a sub-slider is now a little darker or lighter than the slider behind it. -
Fixed the footer width ignored in portrait:
A footer now keeps its configured width on a narrow screen when it fits. PR #2622 by @tkorner, thank you so much! 🍻 #2620 -
Better contrasts on light sub-buttons (again):
The dark or light icon of a sub-button is now picked by its real contrast with the color behind it, so two lamps with almost the same white no longer end up with different icons. -
Fixed the pop-up backdrop appearing without its fade:
The backdrop only faded in the first time a pop-up was opened. -
Fixed a pop-up staying open after its trigger turned off while the page was away:
A pop-up opened by its trigger stayed open if the trigger turned off while the page had lost Home Assistant, like a wall tablet waking up or a page hidden for some time. It now closes when the page comes back. A pop-up closed by hand also no longer opens again when another view is shown while its trigger is still on. -
Fixed legacy pop-ups missing in edit mode:
Since v3.3.0, a legacy pop-up could stay hidden when entering edit mode. -
Fixed legacy pop-ups in a grid card:
Once opened, their header and their content were laid out side by side or far apart, they now show one under the other as in a vertical stack. In a grid card using square cells, they also no longer show their styles as text. -
Fixed the navigation picker missing some pop-ups:
The list of pop-ups offered when choosing a navigation path now includes every pop-up of the view, and keeps the Home Assistant apps next to them. -
Fixed the calendar card not following added, edited or deleted events:
The list only refreshed when the next event changed. It now follows every change made in Home Assistant, right away. PR #2656 by @SeoFood, thank you so much! 🍻 #2654 -
Fixed the editor adding the same user to a condition again and again:
With a user condition in a pop-up trigger or in the visibility of a sub-button, the editor kept refreshing and filled the list with copies of the same user. It showed since Home Assistant 2026.10, with some other plugins installed. #2657 -
Fixed the browser freezing while typing in a YAML field of a list:
Typing in the YAML field of an item, in a module editor, sent the old and the new text in turn until the tab locked up. PR #2661 by @szsolt, thank you so much! 🍻 -
Fixed dropdowns freezing the macOS app:
On an older Safari, like the one of macOS 14.0, the items of a dropdown could not be built, which locked up the macOS companion app. #2663 -
Fixed the README images and links in HACS:
They now show up correctly there as well. -
And more...
Bubble News 🍻
Over the past few years, I’ve been working on Bubble Card almost every day to make it the best it can be, and I still can’t believe how much it has grown in popularity. Watching the community grow and seeing so many people using my work has been incredibly rewarding ❤️
That’s why I decided to launch a Patreon, as a way to offer something more to those who want to support me. Thanks to your support, I’m now able to work on this project full-time from home with my family, which is truly a dream come true.
Since then, I’ve released eight modules that can be configured directly from the editor, just like any other Bubble Card feature. I’m also doing my best to release a new module every month.

![]() Bubble Graphs Add a smooth and minimalist graph of any numeric entity to your cards, as a line, an area or bars, with many (many) options to customize everything further... |
I've recently published a new module for my media players that I really like (my wife as well ❤️), and made a short video to show it in action. I hope you will like it and I can't wait for your feedback! Here it is:
Bubble.Media.Player.Enhanced.mp4
I’m also finally happy with my own dashboard, built entirely with Bubble Card and only new custom modules I've been working on for months! Including one that adds unique colors and styles to all cards, one for the weather, one for graphs, square cards, time... I’ll release more of these modules soon, with a detailed post on Patreon and a new YouTube video. I would love to know what you think!
Thank you so much for being part of this amazing community, your support always makes a huge difference! ❤️
I’ve been wanting to start my own YouTube channel for a while, focusing on tutorials around Home Assistant and Bubble Card, and I really hope you will enjoy my videos. Don’t hesitate to subscribe to help give my channel more visibility. Thank you in advance!
I want to highlight that on the GitHub page, in the Discussions section, you can share and discover some amazing YAML examples from the community. Go check it out! Some of the creations are absolutely incredible!
And if you are interested I've opened a Subreddit for Bubble Card where I post my progress on the project. Here it is:
Also, if you ever want to grab me a fresh beer, here are some easy ways 🍻
