Cheeky Foveated DLSS v0.6.0

This update adds experimental OpenXR frame generation for D3D11 and D3D12 games, adds quad-view DLSS support for DCS and MSFS 2024, and brings the headset menu to quad-view and FG sessions since v0.5.5.

(Experimental) Foveated Frame Generation

  • Choose DLSS Frame Generation (2x), motion-vector warping, or bidirectional interpolation. The non-dlss methods are cheaper and more performant.
  • Requires a DX11 or DX12 OpenXR game with native DLSS depth and motion vectors. DLSS-FG also requires compatible NVIDIA hardware.
  • Games without bundled DLSS-FG may need compatible DLSS-FG DLLs supplied separately. (nvngx_dlssg.dll placed where the other DLSS dlls are.)
  • Shader methods stay on DX11 when used for both regions. DLSS-FG uses DX12 transport in DX11 games, which adds overhead. So the simpler shader based methods may work better for DX11 games.
  • Try the advanced pacing and GPU queue settings to see what works best. The default Release game rendering → After generated frame submission keeps frame matching serialized.
  • VRAM usage has been optimized, but frame pacing may still need work—feedback and comparisons with other FG implementations are welcome.
  • Off by default. Enable it under DLSS-FG in F8, or LuaLoader → Cheeky Foveated DLSS in UEVR.

Quad Views Support

  • Added support for DCS (DX11) and MSFS 2024 (DX12), including frame generation.
    • DCS needs newer version of DLSS using DLSS swapper to get the newer presets.
    • DLSS-G doesnt work as performant in DCS due to having the DX11 transport so I recommend the simpler FG methods.
  • Use different DLSS presets for center and peripheral views—for example, M in the center and E in the periphery.
    • For MSFT saw limited benefit in changing DLSS-SR settings if foveated rendering is enabled, but did see gains using frame gen on the simpler shader based generation
  • Set view assignments automatically or manually under Stereo / Gaze, with optional view numbers and saved layouts.

Downloads: Standalone and UEVR ZIPs only. Both include the matching OpenXR installer.

Updating: Exit the game before replacing files.

  • Standalone: copy CheekyFoveatedDLSS/ and one loader, dxgi.dll or version.dll, into the game's executable folder. Do not copy both loaders or overwrite another mod's loader. For Vulkan, also update CheekyVulkanLayer.dll and preserve CheekyFoveatedDLSS/Vulkan/. Open settings with F8 or your configured menu key.
  • UEVR: extract the complete UEVR package into the game's UEVR configuration directory, preserving plugins/ and scripts/. Update both DLLs and the Lua script together. Saved settings can stay in place. Open LuaLoader → Cheeky Foveated DLSS and check Enable Cheeky for this game if the profile has not been enabled yet. You can install it as a global plugin by placing it in the %AppData%\UnrealVRMod\UEVR folder.
  • OpenXR: run the included OpenXR/CheekyOpenXRSetup.exe to update the shared layer alongside Cheeky, including on headsets without eye tracking. FG and quad views require this updated layer; replace the runtime and the OpenXR layer together.

DLSS-NR still requires a compatible nvngx_dlssnr.dll, supplied separately or available through a compatible NVIDIA App runtime override.
