Users still struggle with bloated databases in spite PMS having software changes to address this.
DBRepair now provides on-demand deflate
See ReleaseNotes for more details.
CAUTION TO ALL:
Deflate is a slow process when the DB is badly bloated and highly dependent on CPU and storage speed.
Example:
- Deflate a 31 GB database (most are several hundred GB)
- Processors: i9-12900 and Realtek ARMv8
- Storage: NVMe SSD and SATA SSD
i9 system deflated the DB in 9 seconds
ARMv8 system deflated the DB in 15minutes
Smaller CPUs / Systems (NAS processors) seem to process about 2GB / minute
If your GB is 200 GB (bloated), you should expect about 100 minutes to complete the tasks
=============== IMPORTANT ========================
- The task will not hang
- Plex SQLite is terse. It provides no intermediate output
- DBRepair will inform you when it's starting Pass (1 of 2) and again at Pass (2 of 2)
- You will then see normal output as the DB is verified and made active.
