This is the 1.6.1-rc1 pre-release.
This pre-release will produce the first release-candidate (-rc1) builds for an upcoming 1.6.1 release.
These release-candidate builds have previously been referred to as dogfood builds.
Should the testing of this pre-release surface issues that need to be fixed prior to a full release, fixes should be made by creating a fix branch off of the release/1.6.1 branch, and a PR should be made targeting the release/1.6.1 branch.
Subsequent release-candidate pre-releases will be created, the next of which would be tagged as 1.6.1-rc2.
The tag 1.6.1-rc1 conforms to PyPi, NPM, and all other file extensions for various packages we build.
