Cherry Studio 0.4.0 Release Notes

This update brings parallel responses from multiple models and conversation branches, Office document creation and editing, a redesigned image creation home screen and canvas experience, and improved reliability for background tasks, desktop connections, and long-running work.

New Features and Improvements

• Multiple model responses and conversation branches: Ask several models the same question at once. Regenerated responses and responses added through @ stay under the original question. Switch between responses to continue their respective conversation branches, keeping follow-up discussions for different approaches separate.
• Full-screen reading for multiple responses: Tap a response card to read it in full screen, swipe left or right to switch responses, and return to the corresponding card. Message headings, citations, and action menus have also been improved.
• Office document creation and editing: Ask agents to create and modify Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files, including more complex document operations and image replacement. Select paragraphs, cells, or slides in the preview and continue the conversation with that selection as context.
• Redesigned image creation home screen and templates: Organize your creations by canvas and browse them through collage covers. Templates support category browsing, editable prompt variables, and photo replacement to help you start a new creation.
• Canvas-centered image creation: See how generations and edits relate to one another on the canvas, select an image to keep working on it, and review models, dimensions, and prompts. Layout behavior when the keyboard opens and action menus have been improved.
• Background task and desktop connection controls: Improved task status, pending decisions, and remote connection controls, along with pairing, pasting, and related guidance. Background status transitions are more reliable when multiple model tasks are running.
• DeepSeek web capabilities: Added support for DeepSeek search and web content retrieval, with improved source links and citations.
• Expanded iOS health queries: Added support for more publicly available Apple Health data types and corrected sleep summaries. Each request still requires user confirmation before personal health data is read and shared with the selected AI service. The app does not write or modify Apple Health records.
• Adaptive app icons: Added support for dark icons on iOS and system-themed icons on Android.
• Conversation runtime cache cleanup: You can now clear the conversation runtime cache in Settings.

Fixes and Stability Improvements

• Improved immediate message display after sending, menu actions, and scroll position to reduce unnecessary waiting and jumps during conversations.
• You can continue queuing follow-up messages while a response is being generated. Removed fixed limits on agent tool calls and execution steps to improve continuity for complex tasks.
• Improved handling of large Office files and multiple images, preserved conversation context in document previews, and hid files that are no longer available.
• Fixed tool argument compatibility and batch file editing issues. Specific tool failure details are preserved so agents can continue working on the task.
• Improved paginated loading of remote conversation history, task recovery, and attribution of image usage.
• Fixed unclear search source icons in dark mode.
• Removed unnecessary photo library read permissions on Android. Photo selection continues to use the system photo picker, and saving images remains available.

Upgrade Notes

• Install the new 0.4.0 package to receive the native feature and permission changes in this release.
• Parallel responses from multiple models use a restricted set of read-only tools. For actions such as modifying files, select a response and continue with a single model.
• iOS health analysis is for reference only and does not constitute medical advice. Apple Health features are not available on Android.
