Setup 1.1.7 Hotfix — cleaner Patch-S switching

Re-enabling New spell visuals now reuses patch-s.mpq.disabled when its SHA-256 and size match the required release. That Patch-S download is skipped. The plain disabled copy moves into the verified transaction backup in LauSetupBackups, leaving one active Patch-S in Data.

A different disabled copy is also preserved in the transaction backup before the correct Patch-S is installed. This applies to root and active-locale files, including clients where active Patch-S already matches. Turning the option off still uses .mpq.disabled. Existing hash-suffixed archives are left intact.

Recovery: close WoW and use Restore previous install. Keep LauSetupBackups; deleting Patch-Y alone is not a complete uninstall.

Validation: 50 regression groups passed on Windows and Wine, including nine locales, on/off/on, duplicate cleanup, source drift, interruptions and exact rollback. Actual release-file on/off/on and stacked rollback passed on both. The packaged Wine launcher passed as a normal Linux user. No new in-game validation was needed for this installer-only change: game payloads remain byte-identical 3.0.8 Lau.

Download LauSetup.exe for Windows or LauSetup-Wine.zip for Linux/Wine. Replace your old installer before retrying. The six-edition raw Patch-Y ZIP is also included. Checksums, source and detailed validation are attached.

DBC changes

No DBC edits in Setup 1.1.7. This is an installer-only hotfix; its complete game-asset catalog matches Setup 1.1.4 / game 3.0.8.

For 3.0.7 → 3.0.8, all seven DBC files were byte-identical across six editions (42 comparisons). That update changed cone model geometry, not DBC records or fields.

DBC history since the Andre handoff

The retained 3.0.4–3.0.8 Patch-Y release archives have identical DBC data between consecutive versions; the later visual updates changed models/textures. Installer hotfixes also leave game DBC data unchanged.

Andre intentionally omitted Spell.dbc because of localization conflicts (six other visual/model DBCs were present). The initial Lau addition exposed the language dependency. Lau and Andre debugged it together, and the multilingual rebuild resolved the text compatibility issue.

Lau identifies the development milestones as 3.0.4: initial addition, 3.0.5: multilingual fix, and 3.0.6–3.0.8: hotfixes with version bumps. Retained published artifacts use overlapping early labels: the archived 3.0.4 baseline already includes the multilingual fix. The audit therefore separates development history from exact archive comparisons.
