What's New?

This is a Desktop hotfix that fixes the message box freezing while typing, along with notification fixes, reminders on Windows, and a round of performance and reliability fixes.

• Message reminders can now be viewed, rescheduled and canceled on Windows
• Microsoft Store installs can now install updates directly from the update dialog
• Date and time pickers now open in keyboard entry mode
• Logs can now be downloaded from Settings → Troubleshoot on desktop

Fixes

• Fixes the message box freezing or lagging while typing, sometimes for several seconds, after switching chats or opening a chat from a notification
• Fixes stutters and brief freezes by moving file access, network checks and settings saves off the main thread
• Fixes new messages sometimes not showing up until the next sync (@blue-archon)
• Fixes the app hanging when closing on Windows
• Fixes high memory use while idle on Windows
• Fixes notification banners sometimes showing an older message's text on Windows
• Fixes notification clicks sometimes being ignored or not opening the app on Windows
• Replying to or reacting from a notification while the app is closed now opens that chat on Windows
• Fixes BlueBubbles not opening when launched while a previous copy is still closing on Windows (@SirTrek)
• Fixes Cancel in the server password dialog showing an error (@SirTrek)
• Fixes the prompt to turn on Private API never appearing, and Private API turning itself off after a restart when enabled from that prompt (@SirTrek)
• Fixes contact photos not showing for some contacts
• Fixes website icons in link previews constantly shrinking and growing
• Fixes background syncs sometimes using out-of-date settings
• Auto-downloading attachments on Wi-Fi only now also works over Ethernet
• Hides or rewords settings that don't apply on desktop
• Fixes newer emoji like 🫩 and 🫪 showing as empty boxes on Windows
• Fixes newer emoji not showing large when sent on their own

For Developers

• Disabled Impeller on Windows (back to Skia) to work around high idle memory use (flutter/flutter#191497)
• Settings saved in background isolates are now forwarded to the main isolate and the GlobalIsolate, so stale copies can't overwrite them
• Each isolate now writes its own log files, and exports merge them (rotated files included) into one timeline off the main isolate
• Windows connectivity checks now run on a worker thread via a connectivity_plus fork
• Snap Store releases are now built and published from GitHub Actions instead of Launchpad, and CI now builds a test Flatpak
