I am excited to announce the first release of SSMS EnvTabs! This extension helps you visualize your environments by automatically coloring tabs in SQL Server Management Studio based on your active connection.

Key Features

  • Auto-Color Tabs: Automatically applies colors to your query tabs based on the server or database you are connected to.
  • Active Connection Monitoring: Detects connection changes in real-time and updates tab colors immediately.
  • Customizable Rules: (See Wiki) Define your own rules for Prod, Dev, or Test environments.

Installation

This is a brief overview. For a comprehensive guide, please see our Installation Guide.

  1. Download the latest SSMS-EnvTabs.vsix file from the Assets section below.
  2. Close any running instances of SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
  3. Run the .vsix installer and follow the prompts.
  4. Restart SSMS.

Note: Ensure you have the prerequisites installed as detailed in the wiki.
