Colour grading gets four proper colour wheels, the metadata and develop settings you made in other programs are read in, and every adjustment group has its own reset button again.

New

  • Colour grading with four colour wheels. Shadows, midtones, highlights and a global wheel, each with hue, saturation and brightness, plus balance and blending. This replaces the old split toning panel — split toning was the two-zone version of the same tool, so your existing edits carry over as the shadow and highlight wheels.
  • Ratings, colour labels and keywords are read from XMP sidecar files. RAW files almost never carry metadata inside them; Lightroom, darktable and digiKam write it into a companion file next to the photo. Both naming conventions are recognised. Nothing you set in FerrumPix is ever overwritten — only empty fields are filled, and keywords are merged rather than replaced.
  • Develop settings you made elsewhere come across. If a RAW file has a xmp sidecar, its develop settings are converted once into a FerrumPix recipe, so the photo opens looking the way you left it. Delete that recipe and it is rebuilt from the sidecar on the next scan.
  • Drop images onto the editor canvas. Dragging picture files in from a file manager places them as new image objects where you let go; several files at once are stacked with a slight offset.
  • A yellow colour label joins the eight existing ones, so photos labelled yellow elsewhere can be filtered here too.

Better

  • Every adjustment group has its own reset button again, and it resets only that group. The little arrow in a group's corner had gone missing, and the one place that still reset — inside Filter — quietly discarded your whole edit: light, colour, detail, effects, HSL, colour grading and curves. Now each group's arrow resets just that group, and LUT and xmp preset each have their own, so removing one no longer wipes the rest.
  • Presets import more completely. Presets from 2020 onwards keep their colour mood under newer keys that were being ignored — the entire look was lost without any sign of it. Black-and-white presets now actually convert to black and white, presets from before 2012 no longer arrive empty, and the camera calibration a preset carries reaches the editor and not just batch processing.

Fixed

  • Rotating a selected object no longer tips the whole picture. In the rotate tool the 90° buttons already turned a selected object, but the fine straighten slider always rotated the image — so picking an object and nudging the slider moved the photo underneath it. Both now do the same thing.
  • Circle text stopped drifting. A text object on a circular path crept a little further down the image with every keystroke, and its selection frame with it.
