FerrumPix 0.9.5 adds printing across all modes, extends platform support and completes the interface translations.
Highlights
- Added printing to the gallery, viewer and editor. FerrumPix renders the images into a PDF and hands it to the operating system, which opens it in the default application with the usual system print dialog — one code path on Linux, Windows and macOS.
- Added PDF as a target format in Save as… and Convert to…, using the page setup last confirmed in the print dialog.
- Added experimental ARM64 and macOS builds. These are untested — feedback is welcome.
- Completed the interface translations for German, English, Spanish, French and Italian.
Printing
- New print dialog with a live preview: page size (A4, A3, A5, Letter, Legal), portrait/landscape, margin, fit or fill, and 1, 4, 9 or 16 images per page.
- Added a borderless option that drops the page margin and lets the image cover the whole page. Whether the printer really reaches the paper edge is still decided in the system print dialog.
- With a single image selected, the number of prints can be set. Combined with the images-per-page grid this puts the same photo on one sheet several times.
- A multiple selection in the gallery becomes a multi-page document; with more than one image per page it becomes a contact sheet that can show the file names below the images.
- The editor prints the current edit state — adjustments, objects and brush work — not the file on disk.
.fpxprojects print their rendered result, and RAW files print via their embedded preview.- Print… is available from the thumbnails, the gallery's footer menu, the list view's context menu, the viewer and the editor toolbars, and with
Ctrl+Pin every mode. The editor's Apply preview moved toCtrl+Shift+P. - Batch conversion to PDF writes one file per image. Embedded images are scaled to 300 dpi and stored as JPEG, which keeps the documents small enough to print and email.
Platforms
- Added experimental ARM64 and macOS releases alongside the existing x64 builds.
- Trash handling and the mpv video backend were adapted for the additional platforms.
Interface
- Toolbar button labels are hidden automatically when the window is too narrow for them, so the buttons no longer collide. The icons and their tooltips remain.
- The file name in the editor toolbar is smaller and truncated with an ellipsis instead of running into the centered mode buttons. The same limit applies to the viewer's status bar; the full name is available as a tooltip.
- Selection lists in the overlay dialogs now close after picking an entry instead of staying open over the field.
- Removed the status text from the editor's bottom bar. Long messages such as Saved as grew across the centered zoom controls; the status is shown in the toolbar anyway.
- Fixed the snap guides in the editor.
Translations
- Completed the missing interface translations and fixed the personal folder entry in the folder tree.
- Error and confirmation dialogs from the gallery batch tools now go through the translation layer. Their titles and messages, and the OK/Cancel buttons, stayed German in every language before.
- Updated the translation set (thanks to toonvank).
