FerrumPix 0.9.4
FerrumPix 0.9.4 focuses on the editor, large-image performance, project workflows, Immich integration and stability.
Highlights
- Added the native
.fpxproject format. Projects can store adjustments, the layer stack and the baked working image, so edits can be reopened and continued later. - Added a Layers panel in the editor with layer visibility, opacity, blend modes, renaming, duplication, drag-and-drop reordering, deletion and rasterizing.
- Reworked the editor around a full-resolution working image. Retouching, brush strokes and rasterized layers are baked once into the working image instead of being recomputed repeatedly.
- Improved editing of large photos. Preview rendering, retouching, brush strokes and zoom detail rendering are much more responsive on high-resolution images.
- Added high-resolution zoom detail in the editor, including the before/after comparison view. Both sides of the comparison stay sharp while zooming.
- Improved the retouch tools, including smudge, repair brush and clone stamp, with regional commits and more precise undo behavior.
- Added color labels in the gallery and improved metadata handling around ratings, favorites, tags and labels.
- Added a gallery timeline scrubber for quick navigation by date or sort sections.
- Improved Immich support, including safer asset replacement options, better handling of server timeouts, and additional People and Places navigation.
Editor
- The base image can now be shown or hidden as part of the layer stack.
- Image objects and watermarks support aspect-ratio locking or free stretching.
- Object adjustments, blend modes, shadows, glow and transforms were stabilized.
- Brush and eraser behavior is more consistent between preview, export and reopened projects.
- Large brush, smudge and retouch operations were optimized to reduce UI stalls.
- The before/after comparison now uses sharp detail overlays on both sides of the draggable divider.
- Film negative conversion, LUTs, xmp presets and filters received additional fixes and diagnostics coverage.
Gallery and Viewer
- Added color labels with visible tile markers and filter support.
- Added a timeline scrubber for faster navigation in large folders and libraries.
- Viewer image loading is more robust and discards outdated background decode results while browsing quickly.
- Pending viewer rotations can be saved or discarded before switching images.
- Video playback and seeking received stability fixes.
Immich
- Improved synchronization of ratings, favorites, keywords and color labels.
- Improved behavior when replacing existing Immich assets from save workflows.
- Hidden and locked Immich assets are handled more reliably.
- Immich browsing remains safer when server fields are missing or server requests time out.
Stability and Performance
- Many editor render paths now update only the affected region instead of rebuilding the full preview.
- High-resolution projects and large PNGs are less likely to block the interface.
- Thumbnail, transparency and metadata caches were made more robust.
- Fixed multiple crashes and hangs in the editor, viewer, zoom detail rendering and shutdown handling.
- Completed missing UI translations.
