Geeqie 3.2

  • Collections integrated into the main window. .gqv files appear as virtual folders, with their
contents displayed in the files pane. Collection management now includes editing, appending,
saving, reordering, sorting, randomizing, and navigating to an image’s original folder.
Standalone collection windows and collection previews were removed. Unsaved changes are protected
    by Save/Discard/Cancel prompts.

  • Collection information and paths improved. Added editing and display of per-image collection info
text, including in the overlay display. Added forced relative-path saving. Collection list rows
now show filenames with full-path tooltips and a collection-only “Sort by path” option. Opening
collections with Enter or double-click was fixed.

  • Extensive GTK4 modernization. Migrated the icon view to GtkGridView, and search results, file
filters, shortcut configuration, plugin lists, file-operation lists, and advanced EXIF displays
to GtkColumnView. Converted folder lists and layout configuration to newer widgets. Replaced
numerous deprecated drawing, dialog, positioning, and widget APIs and removed compatibility
wrappers. The files list and directory tree still retain legacy APIs.

  • Keyboard shortcuts and menus revised. Made shortcuts consistently configurable, revised defaults
toward GNOME conventions, added per-window keyboard maps, improved conflict reporting, and fixed
plugin shortcut overrides and duplicate detection. Fixed menu keyboard navigation, F10
activation, focus restoration, folder-tree toggling, and inverted boolean actions. Configured
shortcuts now appear in tooltips and plugin context menus.

  • Files-pane interaction improved. Added an adjustable, remembered filename-column width and
display of the date used for sorting. Fixed selection in folder lists and search results, main-
menu selection actions, right-click preservation of multiple selections, and selection when
starting a drag. Improved drag-and-drop between Geeqie windows and fixed Wayland drops into
    Signal.

  • Image display and rendering corrected. Fixed undersized thumbnails, intermittent AVIF thumbnail
failures, search and duplicate-window thumbnails, excessive mouse-wheel image skipping, and fuzzy
overlay text at 200% scaling. Added an optional navigator overlay. Improved rendering queues,
coalesced redraw requests, restored configurable tile caching, and prevented oversized-image
    scaling crashes.

  • Metadata and color handling improved. Fixed MP4 EXIF reading, embedded ICC-profile handling,
color-management menus, and invisible GPS markers. Enabled color management in full AppImages.
Added a metadata-key entry to the sidebar’s Add menu and a rating “greater than or equal to”
filter. Fixed deleting keywords from multiple files and a metadata-buffer crash.

  • File operations and dialogs refined. Revised Geeqie’s trash system, clarified copy/cut behavior,
corrected the GNOME clipboard MIME type, and fixed filename completion in address and copy
dialogs. Added a “Current folder” button to file choosers and fixed Latin-1 filename handling. An
intermediate copy/move dialog change was reverted.

  • Layout and general UI fixes. Repaired horizontal and vertical splits, sidebar expanders,
transparent window borders, duplicated toolbar contents, automatic navigation to the next folder,
and fullscreen plugin availability. Improved theme-based image borders, pan-view scrolling and
    filtering, and spelling-checker behavior.

  • Shutdown and memory fixes. Corrected sidebar removal, directory-view lifetime during destruction,
and rating-popover cleanup to eliminate normal-quit warnings. Fixed a keyword-sidebar memory leak
and several pointer/compiler warnings. Thumbnail-size tracking was simplified to avoid deprecated
    widget calls.

  • Build, packaging, and testing updated. Added deprecation-warning build options and test coverage,
resolved Meson option naming inconsistencies, fixed debug builds, and excluded tests from source
correctness checks. Added AppImage update information, fixed Snap SVG support, and expanded
    isolated-display tooling for Wayland/Weston.

  • Documentation, translations, and internal cleanup. Updated German and other translation catalogs,
corrected translation format validation, and revised translation maintenance. Added contributor
guidance and EditorConfig settings. Refactored configuration writing, metadata storage, event
handling, sidebar implementations, and numerous helpers to reduce duplication and unused code.

  • Revised Bash completions
