This is a major release built around a complete visual redesign of MetaEdit Plus. The old flat grey interface was replaced with a deep, modern glass theme that runs edge to edge across every window. Alongside the redesign, this update changes how folders are loaded, reworks the CSV import screen, forces English number and date formatting, and makes the app icon reliable. Every existing feature stays exactly where you expect it.
A New Look
The entire application was re-themed from scratch.
- New colour identity: The flat grey interface was replaced with a deep navy-and-teal palette, a luminous cyan accent, and warm amber highlights. The change reaches every screen, panel, field, and button in the app.
- Glass-like surfaces: Flat backgrounds were replaced with soft gradients, gentle depth, a faint atmospheric glow, and glass highlights, giving the interface a polished, three-dimensional feel.
- Glow and lighting: Active section tabs, focused fields, open dropdowns, and hovered buttons now light up with a soft accent glow, so it is always clear what you are interacting with.
- Cleaner section headers: The Directory, Production, Technical, and Composition headers were simplified to clean centred labels, dropping their old inline icons.
- Recessed input fields: Text fields now use a darker recessed style with a clear focus highlight, so the field you are editing stands out.
- Crisp rounded corners: The window, panels, fields, dropdowns, and menus all use true rounded corners that clip their contents cleanly and stay sharp on every monitor and display-scaling setting.
- Steadier controls: Hover effects no longer scale elements (which could leave borders looking clipped or faint); controls now stay crisp and simply light up with highlight and glow feedback.
- Performance graph: The performance graph now sits cleanly inside its rounded frame instead of spilling over its edges.
One Consistent Design Across Every Window
Every window now shares the same design.
- Unified chrome: Auto Tag, Text Tools, CSV Import / Export, Track Info, and Settings now use the same title bar, close button, buttons, spacing, rounded corners, and recessed panels, so the application feels like one cohesive whole instead of a collection of separate windows.
- Track Info refresh: Track Info now follows the same look, with recessed content panels, subtle dividers, and dimmed placeholders for empty values, so populated details stand out at a glance.
Redesigned Right-Click Menus
- New menu style: Every right-click menu in the app was rebuilt with a single modern look — an accent bar, clear icons, neatly inset separators, and one consistent size — so cut, copy, paste, and the other menu actions look and behave the same everywhere.
Folder Loading
- Browse now opens a folder: The Browse button now opens a folder picker and loads the whole folder at once, instead of asking you to select individual files. It also remembers the folder you last worked in.
CSV Import / Export
The CSV import screen was reorganized and given more useful information.
- Mode at the top: The Import / Export switch now sits at the very top of the screen, above the file overview, since it is the first choice you make.
- Clearer import source: The selected CSV now appears in a text field with a Browse button beside it, so you can see at a glance which file is loaded.
- Requirements and summary: The import view now shows what the CSV needs to contain and a live summary of how many rows were matched, skipped, and overwritten.
- Less clutter: The long explanatory box and the redundant status box were removed; status now appears as a single subtle line, only after a file is loaded.
Auto Tag and Text Tools
- Unified Auto Tag search bar: The search field and the Scan button now sit together as a single dark bar, making the search row read as one clear control.
- Scrollable Text Tools preview: The change preview now scrolls with the mouse wheel, so reviewing a long list of changes no longer pushes the whole page around.
Cover Art
- Reliable cover-art saving: Cover art you added — by selecting an image, dropping one onto the thumbnail, or applying it from Auto Tag — could silently fail to be written to your files when saving, most noticeably when writing in Batch Mode. Cover art now saves reliably in both Batch and Per-File modes.
English Formatting
- English everywhere: Numbers, dates, and times now always display in English formatting (for example, a dot as the decimal separator), regardless of your system's regional settings, for a consistent experience on every machine.
App Icon
- Always visible: The MetaEdit Plus icon no longer occasionally falls back to the generic default icon. It now displays reliably in the taskbar, the window title bar, Alt+Tab, and everywhere else Windows shows it.
