This update focuses on interface consistency, clearer workflow feedback, and a smoother CSV and Text Tools experience across MetaEdit Plus.
Workflow Feedback and Main Window Tools
The main editing workflow now provides clearer feedback and faster access to common actions.
- Undo backup signals: Metadata operations now surface clearer console feedback when undo snapshots are being created before larger changes are applied.
- Undo and Redo buttons: Dedicated Undo and Redo buttons are now available in the main toolbar alongside the existing dropdown controls.
- Hover image actions: Main action buttons now use dedicated hover-state icon assets for a more polished interactive feel.
- Arctisoft Studio Hub launch: The main window now surfaces Arctisoft Studio Hub more clearly as the launch target for related app navigation.
File Tools - Better Loading and Inspection
File-oriented workflows are now faster and easier to inspect.
- Track Info window: A dedicated Track Info window is now available from the file list context menu, exposing file, audio, and tag details for the selected item.
- CSV async loading: The CSV Import Export window now loads tag data asynchronously after opening, avoiding the startup freeze when many files are loaded.
- Folder drag-drop auto-detect: Dragging a folder into MetaEdit now auto-detects the dominant file format more intelligently.
UI Consistency - Polished Controls
Multiple windows now follow the same interaction rules and visual language more reliably.
- Dropdown behavior: Main window, CSV window, and Settings dropdowns now close more reliably on outside clicks and restore their rounded trigger corners correctly.
- Dropdown polish: Library, Format, and Mode dropdowns use a cleaner fade-in animation, a normalized format font, and a crisper separator between trigger and popup.
- Dropdown reliability: Settings dropdowns now always restore their rounded trigger corners when they close, including outside clicks and window deactivation.
- Consistent button hover: Tool-window buttons now use the MetaEdit-style foreground hover instead of switching background colors.
- Directory list spacing: The file list uses balanced left and right padding so hover and selection states stay visually centered, even when the vertical scrollbar appears.
- Clearer section titles: Auto-Tag, CSV Import/Export, and Text Tools now use more descriptive section headers for better readability.
- Refined scrollbars: Main-window and tool-window scrollbars now use a slimmer rounded style that better matches the current UI.
Text Tools - Clearer Apply Behavior
Text Tools now communicates its direct-apply workflow more clearly and keeps the main editor in sync after changes are applied.
- Editor refresh: After applying Find Replace or Case Conversion changes, the visible main metadata fields are refreshed to match the updated state.
- Direct-apply notice: The console now explicitly states that Text Tools changes were applied immediately, so users do not have to guess whether a separate Write Tags step is still needed.
Store Restore - Better History Entries
Stored field backups are now easier to understand before restoring.
- Descriptive entries: Restore history entries now show which stored fields are included instead of only showing a timestamp.
- Detailed tooltips: Hovering a restore entry reveals a fuller summary of stored fields plus the saved time.
CSV Import Export - Import First
The CSV tool now follows the more common workflow order.
- Import-first layout: The mode switch now shows Import first and Export second.
- Default opening mode: CSV Import/Export opens on the Import tab by default.
