Note
v3.0.0 marks the move from the solo-maintained Apollo-ImprovedCustomApi to Apollo-Reborn: now a community-maintained project under the Apollo-Reborn org. Join us at r/ApolloReborn and check out our new homepage at apolloreborn.app!
The pace of contributions over the last couple of months has been incredible, and a shared org lets us keep that momentum going sustainably: more reviewers, more shipped features, faster turnaround on issues, and a project that doesn't depend on any one person's availability.
We're also pulling the broader Apollo sideloading workflow together under the org:
- apollo-backend - a self-hostable revival of Christian's original notifications service for push notifications, inbox checks, and watchers on sideloaded builds.
- In-house IPA release pipeline — each release now publishes ready-to-install Apollo IPAs (Standard, No Extensions, Liquid Glass) and an AltStore/SideStore/Feather source directly from this repo. Huge thanks to @Balackburn, whose Balackburn/Apollo source has provided Apollo builds for the community over the years and is the model we're carrying forward.

- Post GIFs in comments: a new Gif button in the compose toolbar opens a built-in Giphy browser (trending + search) and uploads selected GIFs natively to Reddit (#276: @icpryde)
- Add Image Chest inline album support: bare Image Chest links show the first image inline and open an in-app album viewer with tap-to-hide controls, idle auto-hide, and per-image pinch zoom (#241: @icpryde)
- To set up Image Chest, create an account at https://imgchest.com, generate an API token at https://imgchest.com/profile/api, and paste it into Img Chest API Key under Settings > Custom API > API Keys
- Add Subreddit Headers: view subreddit banners and display icons on subreddit pages, with optional tap-to-set custom local images that can be reset anytime in Settings (#266: @jordanearle, @icpryde)
- Compact u/username and r/subreddit cards in rich link previews show avatar/icon, display name, member count, and an about snippet, with long-press peek into the native profile/community view (#262: @icpryde)
- Long-press peek now works on usernames and subreddit links in threads and comments (#262: @icpryde)
- Show banned profile state with a dead Snoo overlay on user profiles, and surface comment author hints for banned/suspended users (#271, #278: @icpryde, @jordanearle)
