Kanto Gear now joins your adventure in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen. This release also brings more detailed minimaps to Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver and Crystal, plus the latest Japanese translations from Theeohn.
FireRed and LeafGreen
- Live Party, Bag, Pokédex, Trainer and map views, including the National Dex when unlocked.
- Detailed minimaps and encounter information in Explorer and Home widgets.
- Gear and Full Gear battle controls, native battle messages, Pokémon switching, item use and move learning. Gear follows the game's focus; Full Gear uses its companion layout.
- Touch controls for PC storage, box slots, naming, quantities and confirmations. The game still handles purchases, transfers, moves and other actions.
- Route progress and stamps for trainers, items, hidden finds and local Pokémon. Repeatable objectives and exclusive choices are accounted for separately.
- Itemfinder scans follow FR/LG detection rules, including collected items and underfoot-only finds.
- Pokémon summaries show nature, ability and its description. Level-up pages show the actual stat gains and totals.
- FireRed and LeafGreen have their own title-screen identifiers.
Improvements for existing games
- Gen 1/2 minimaps use the host's detailed terrain resources, preserving native colors and map changes while sharing resources with the game.
- More Japanese interface text and wording refinements from Theeohn, including habitat availability. Six new FR/LG/progress labels currently fall back to English.
Installing and testing
Requires official Recomp 0.3.20 or newer. Import kanto_gear-3.3.0.zip and enable it for your game. The same ZIP supports all eight editions.
The release contains the same gameplay/UI code as the Thor-tested 3.3.0-gen3.9 build. Automated checks cover both FR/LG editions, native menu operations, route progress, radar rules and Gen 1/2 compatibility; Light/Dark previews were also inspected.
FR/LG support is new. Eggs, move-detail reordering and specialized minigames still use the native game screen. Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald are not supported. If something looks wrong, please report the edition, exact menu/action, display mode, host version and other enabled mods.
No game ROMs or extracted game assets are bundled. Existing font credits and license notices remain included.
Asset scan: no prohibited assets detected. The scanner returns one review flag for the unchanged font atlas; that atlas has been reproduced byte-for-byte from its documented licensed source. The scanner verdict remains FLAGGED, with the provenance evidence retained.
