Kanto Gear can now bring its battle controls to the front automatically on a single screen. The game's Start menu is also available as a matching touch list, and Gen 2 item progress no longer mistakes story-locked pickups for collected items.
- Optional Auto Battle Screen: enable it under Options → Battle. Gear moves to the primary position for the battle menu, moves, Pokémon and Bag selections; the game returns there for dialogue and animations. Works with Fullscreen Swap and Combined Screen layouts, including corner overlays. Your previous arrangement is restored afterward. Disabled by default.
- Touch Start menu (#34): the game's current menu entries appear in the same vertical order and follow the same D-pad selection. Available entries follow your progress, and native confirmations remain in place. Closing the menu returns to your previous Gear screen.
- Correct Gen 2 pickup progress (#35): story-locked items no longer count as already collected or as evidence that an area was visited. Recurring pickups whose flags cannot prove collection remain explicitly untracked.
- Silph Store cleanup: Pokédex and Achievements no longer carry outdated “New” badges. Notes keeps its badge.
The menu, battle switching and pickup fixes passed on-device checks. Automated Gen 1/2 regression checks passed, and the Store changes were checked in Light/Dark previews. Font credits and license notices remain included.
Known compatibility issue: with Kanto Gear and Battle Art Voxel Gen2 in Crystal, opening the Bag or Pokémon menu can still cover the battle scene with a white panel. The fix is in the separate Recomp PR #2271; this mod release does not include that host change or the experimental desktop frame-delivery optimization.
