Kanto Gear 3.0.0 — Silph Link OS
Kanto Gear 3.0 debuts Silph Link OS, a new high-resolution companion system
inspired by the Nintendo DS generation. This is not a reskin of the old tab
bar: apps, widgets, a customizable Home screen and consistent touch-first
flows rebuild how the companion screen is organized and used.
Highlights
- A customizable, touch-first Silph Link Home screen with as many persistent
pages as needed, app icons, live widgets and long-press editing. - Silph Store for installing or removing optional Kanto Gear apps and their
widgets, with App of the Day, recommendations, previews andNEWpromotion.
It changes local UI preferences only and never downloads code. - Dedicated Explorer, Map, Party, Pokédex, Bag, Trainer Card, Step Counter,
Field Kit, Store and Options apps, plus a coming-soon Notes preview. - App icons and widgets are separate Home surfaces. Packages can provide both,
and Field Kit supports multiple one-tap widgets for unlocked tools. - Explorer combines the live route map, contextual encounters, trainers,
visible items, hidden items and Itemfinder interaction without turning the
screen into a table of data. - Redesigned Party, battle, move, item-target, move-learning, message and PC
flows with consistent touch feedback, focus styling and transitions. - Four-segment battery display, day-period icons, status icons, type badges,
HP/EXP information and fainted-party treatment designed for the larger HGSS
canvas. - HGSS Auto follows Gold, Silver and Crystal's night period and applies the
same 18:00 boundary to the device clock in Red, Blue and Yellow. - Gen 1 and Gen 2 field items, TMs/HMs and PP items continue through the
original game actions while their selection screens are presented below. - Silph Link Options groups appearance, display, battle, research and control
settings, with immediate persistent changes, explicit Home and option resets
and context-sensitive rows.
Compatibility
- Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow.
- Pokémon Gold, Silver and Crystal.
- Fullscreen Swap, Combined Screen and Separate Screens.
- Touch, keyboard and controller input; the HGSS Home editor intentionally
remains touch-only. - German, Spanish (Spain) and French companion language packs are included as
separate optional ZIPs.
Upgrade notes
- The first 3.0 launch switches every installation to HGSS Light. Selecting
HGSS Dark, HGSS Auto or a Legacy theme afterwards is saved normally. - Kanto, version-matched, Modern, OG, SGB and Advanced themes remain available;
3.0 does not delete them. - The first HGSS launch creates the default Home layout. Later edits, installed
apps and widget choices are stored immediately and survive restarts. - Newly promoted optional apps are not installed automatically. Open Silph
Store and choose GET if you want them. - Silph Store installs are UI preferences, not network downloads. Every app
already ships inside Kanto Gear. - Kanto Gear contains no ROM, ROM-derived asset or save data.
