Kanto Gear 2.2 — Know Your Opponent
Kanto Gear's second screen can now do more than move the original interface:
it can give you useful battle information while the game keeps its native
battle UI exactly where it is.
Battle Intel
The new INFO Battle View turns the Gear screen into a read-only opponent
card. It can show:
- species, Pokédex number, level and type;
- caught count and Pokédex details;
- base stats;
- weaknesses, resistances and immunities;
- possible moves and encounter locations when the host exposes them.
Long matchup lists can be expanded without cramming the normal battle screen.
The card never guesses missing game data, and monotype Pokémon are no longer
shown with a duplicated second type.
Smarter exploration
- Gold's Guide now marks encounters by Morning, Day and Night, so
you do not spend an evening searching for a Pokémon that only appears in the
morning. - The world-map player marker now uses the game's own player sprite at the
native landmark position in both Gen 1 and Gold. It is larger, clearer and
finally looks like it belongs on the map.
A clearer first impression
The project page now shows Kanto Gear in the setups it actually supports:
classic dual-screen handhelds, combined single-screen layouts and a movable
desktop companion window.

Import only kanto_gear-2.2.0.zip unless you also want one of the optional
language packs. Existing Kanto Gear settings remain available after updating
the mod inside the same host installation.
