Gold support from day one
Kanto Gear now supports Pokémon Gold alongside Red, Blue and Yellow. The same
companion mod adapts to the running game and adds:
- Johto and Kanto region maps, detailed local maps, exits and item markers;
- encounter guides and area checklists for trainers, visible items and hidden
items; - all 16 badges, Gold party and summary data, contextual field tools and Gold
menu choices; - Gold battle, party and PACK controls on the companion screen;
- the new Silph Link boot identity and ROM-aware system identifier.
Gen 1 behavior remains covered by the existing compatibility suite.
German companion language pack
The optional Kanto Gear Deutsch 0.2.0 package now explicitly targets both
Gen 1 and Gen 2 and contains 278 Kanto Gear interface strings. Gold menu
actions, regional map headers, summary fallbacks and Kanto Gear settings are
included. It still translates only Kanto Gear; use a separate game translation
for dialogue and original game menus.
Required Android host update
Install Gen1Recomp Android Test 0.1.78-kanto.8
manually over the existing Android Test app. Do not uninstall first.
Older test hosts displayed the official Gen1Recomp payload update. Accepting
that prompt replaced the custom host pieces and made the companion display stop
working even though Kanto Gear remained installed. kanto.8 disables only that
incompatible host update path; normal mod update checks still work.
