What changed
- Kanto Gear now reads translated game terms through Gen1Recomp's public translation registry instead of maintaining private English copies.
- German umlauts render correctly in companion text.
- Battle headers identify wild and Trainer battles and use the active translation when available.
- Internal game data now comes from public Recomp APIs, reducing private engine coupling without changing the existing UI or controls.
- The manifest now identifies the official Kanto Gear repository so the launcher can check releases and show other available versions.
- The repository front page now uses current screenshots and matched-release links.

Kanto Gear works without a Voxel Mod. If you already use Dramatic Shape with Kanto Gear on Android, use the matching optional fork above to avoid duplicated or empty battle HUD panels.

- The exact release source passed all 58/58 Kanto Gear compatibility checks, LuaJIT bytecode compilation, strict Modkit validation and the no-ROM-data lint.
- The packaged ZIP was checked for mod ID
kanto_gear, version1.7.1, repository metadata and excluded development or ROM-derived files. - The matched
0.1.76-kanto.7host and the same Kanto Gear runtime code were tested together on an AYN Thor running Android 13, including the companion display and live screen swap. The final changes after that check are manifest and documentation metadata only.
Updating from 1.7.0
Install the matched host APK over the existing app, then replace Kanto Gear with Kanto-Gear-Mod-1.7.1.zip. Existing Kanto Gear settings remain compatible.
This remains an unofficial Android public test release. Keep an exported save backup. No ROM, ROM-extracted asset or game data is included.
