What's New in v1.1.0

One-Click Installer

A standalone abyss-setup-x.x.x.exe now handles everything automatically, applies the CSS, sets the dark theme, configures home screen sections, installs Spotlight, and restarts Jellyfin. No manual steps required.

Built transparently from setup.ps1 via GitHub Actions. You can read every line before running.

Spotlight Home Banner

A cinematic banner on your home screen shows your current Continue Watching item, backdrop image, metadata pills (rating, runtime, community score), and a direct resume button. Installed automatically by the setup exe.

More additions

  • Home sections now animate in with staggered fade-up entrance on load
  • Favourite (heart) button has a spring pop animation
  • Checkbox theming with accent colour
  • Selection colour and accent-color overrides applied globally

  • Backdrop darkened to brightness(25%) for better contrast
  • Scrollbar layout shift fixed with scrollbar-gutter: stable

Install

One-Click (Recommended)

Download abyss-setup-v1.1.0.exe below and run it.

Note

If you are on Windows. Windows SmartScreen may show a warning! It is completely normal, the setup is 100% safe.
Click Three dots icon (...) then Keep > Keep anyway. This happens because the installer is new and hasn't yet built a download reputation with Microsoft.

Why is this safe to run?

The installer (abyss-setup.exe) is automatically compiled from setup.ps1 via GitHub Actions on every release. You can read every line of setup.ps1 before running, it is plain PowerShell with no obfuscation.

The installer will ask for your Jellyfin server URL, admin username, and admin password. These are sent directly to your own local Jellyfin server using the standard Jellyfin API, the same API your browser uses when you log in. Nothing is sent to any external server. The credentials are used only to authenticate and apply theme settings, and are never stored anywhere.

The build process is fully transparent and auditable, click through to the Actions log to see exactly which commit produced the exe you downloaded.

Manual Install

If you prefer not to use the installer, paste this single line into Dashboard > Branding > Custom CSS and save:

@import url('https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/AumGupta/abyss-jellyfin@main/abyss.css');

After applying, go to Settings > Home and arrange your home sections in this order: Continue Watching, Next Up, My Media, Recently Added. This is required because Abyss hides the card text of the third section (section2) to give the My Media row a clean, cover-only look.

How to override the section2 card text hiding

If you'd prefer to keep card text visible, or if you use a different section in position 3, add this after the @import line:

/* Show card text in the third home section */
.section2 .cardText {
    display: unset;
}

Or if "My Media" is in a different position, target that section instead:

/* Hide card text in section0 instead */
.section0 .cardText {
    display: none;
}
