Ascendara 12: Six New Themes, Theme Studio & a Smoother Interface

Ascendara 12 is a fresh look from the first frame. Six new themes join the lineup, the earlier themes live on under Classics, and the new Theme Studio lets you build your own color by color or start from a community theme with a live preview. Pages now crossfade smoothly, Home opens instantly when you return to it, and startup holds until everything is ready before the menu bar and dock glide in. Big Picture mode animates between pages and games, the menu bar's window controls and logo side are yours to choose, and Settings, the welcome setup and Ascend all have a cleaner layout. Under the hood, two-step sign-in asks for the code before finishing, failed extraction retries on its own, online downloads check their folder for security software before starting, and updates, torrents and cloud saves are more reliable.

Big Picture

🐛 Fixed

Ascendara Core

• Finished downloads that a security scan held open are recovered when extraction is retried
• Error reports keep the original error after a retry
• The updating screen never stalls, and Linux only accepts AppImage installers
• Torrents start with qBittorrent 5.1 and newer
• Portable torrent releases install instead of failing for a missing setup file
• Updates keep the installed version until the update passes verification
• Verification skips Ascendara's working folders, and failed updates can be verified again
• Verification ignores files the game rewrote, and a manual verify no longer blocks launching
• Temp cleaners can no longer remove the downloader's files in the middle of a download
• Cloud saves restore using the backup's own game title
• Cloud saves made on a different operating system can't be restored
• The window comes back faster after a game closes
• Later archives can replace files that earlier archives extracted with hard links
• Verifying game files ignores Ascendara's own metadata and library artwork
• Achievements for emulated games are listed before the first one is unlocked, including games with no saved achievement data yet

• Changing a download location no longer runs a folder check; each online download checks its own folder instead
