Security Hardening for Ascend, Companion & Payments
Ascendara 11.7.3 · October 27 2026
This update tightens security across Ascend, the Companion and payments. Direct messages and friend lists are now locked to the people they belong to, the Companion checks your Ascend access on every request and can only control downloads that are actually in progress, and payment details are no longer stored on your public profile. Stripe webhooks are also back online, so renewals, cancellations and failed payments update your Ascend status right away.

What's new

Ascend
- Only the two people in a conversation can read or change its messages
- Friend requests can only be accepted by the person they were sent to, and friends lists can only be changed by their owner
- Your join date and account details can no longer be changed from the app
Payment Processing
- Payment IDs are stored privately instead of on your public profile
Ascendara API
- Only registered official builds can request API access
- Server keys are no longer included in app builds
Companion
- The Companion checks your Ascend access on every request, not just when you pair
- Pairing codes are protected against guessing, and only your desktop can see whether your code was used
- Disconnecting a device revokes its access within seconds

- Renewals, cancellations and failed payments update your Ascend status immediately again
Companion
- Pause, resume and cancel from the Companion only act on downloads that are in progress
