A stability release. Everything here was tested on a real Windows 11 in a virtual machine or on real partitions unless it says otherwise. Physical PCs have only had limited testing, so back up anything you can't lose.

Fixed

  • Stuck at 0 GB. Make room now moves NTFS system files such as $Mft::$BITMAP that Windows' defrag leaves near the end of a drive. Space on stuck drives is also counted correctly, and Make room now works on most 8 GB PCs.
  • "Ready" when nothing was installed. A Cancel could stop the install with no error, and hop read that as success. A stopped install now counts as stopped, hop checks it reached the end, and Cancel appears a moment later so a double click on Start can't hit it.
  • Screens only say what's been checked. Removed, gone and space back now rest on reading the PC afterwards. Clean up lists what it couldn't remove. A new partition alone no longer means Linux is installed, and Undo says where the ISO is.
  • Remove lists every partition it deletes, and stops if that list has changed.
  • Startup entry. It can no longer land first by accident and start the installer on every restart.
  • Installer files are compared by checksum after copying, not just by size.
  • Downloads retry when antivirus or a work network breaks the certificate check, and a web page saved as an ISO is no longer reused.

Added

  • Turn off Secure Boot. A button and steps for the systems that need it off, with a restart into the BIOS. BitLocker is paused for that restart.
  • Try another way. When the firmware won't follow the one-time start, hop can put the installer first, and moves it back when you next open hop in Windows.
  • Report this on GitHub copies a report and opens a new issue to paste it into. Nothing is sent by itself.
  • hop keeps the PC from sleeping on its own while it works, tests a startup menu change before the disk changes, and spots Intel RST/VMD and other RAID controllers by name.
  • Troubleshooting for a black screen.
